I keep seeing updates to the thread and come back to check if there was any news. Unfortunately, it's been quite a few pages since there was any new information or baseball related discussion. The thread was great for the first day, but it's time to let it go.

Unfortunately?

The non baseball discussion kept me reading, page after page after page.

You may not want to visit any game threads... just sayin'

Of course now I hate myself for wasting all this time... Well, not wasted... Frittered away.

Maybe you have the wrong idea on how some of these threads operate. Don't take most of what goes on too seriously, especially in the offseason. A lot of this has just been fun and good chatter. The equivalent of sitting around with friends bantering about sports. Just an entertaining way to pass the time in a long offseason when the other MN sports aren't offering much.

I have a fairly good idea of how these threads evolve. I'm not trying to criticize the thread or site, I'm just saying my main interest is in talking baseball and when a thread moves past that point it doesn't hold my interest. Luckily there are always new threads with good twins discussion.

I love it. This is just like the Mauer prediction. Yes, the rule 5 trades are what is holding up the Dozier deal. They literally had to drop everything that they were doing and only focus on Rule 5 for a day. Priceless.

Slow day in Taiwan Kirk? Or just on a monumental bender that has you saying such non sense this late in the morning?

If you remember correctly I nailed the Mauer contract.

Slow day in Taiwan Kirk?

If you remember correctly I nailed the Mauer contract.

And everyday there was a new excuse about why it hadn't happened yet. Definitely more than the 3 days you said earlier.

I think this will happen more or less as you described but I am thoroughly enjoying this thread.

T minus 2 hours until the car is packed for a weekend camping trip. This better have happened by the time I get back home in 60 hours.

It actually only got extended by 48 hours and I nailed the years and exact dollar amount. Apparently as future mrs davew has taught me with her lawyer ways, huge ass contracts take a little bit of time to cross the I's and dot the T's.

Enjoy the camping trip! When you come back from it I am positive the Twins will be a team primed to make a legit run in 2018/2019!

And also, no snark at all, I enjoy your photos from your travels, you should post some of them in the sports bar thread. Safe travels.

K, just so I have this straight, this is a 33 page thread about...

......nothing?

Seinfeld would be proud.

If we are going down this road we could claim this entire site is about nothing! Since no major news has really been broken here, and it's a site about a baseball team that hasn't won a playoff game since the sites inception.

Puts things into perspective, especially in this day and age! So maybe just enjoy the conversation in th meantime?

You are in Canada anyways, I thought you guys were supposed to be nicer!

Trying to get this to page 34.  Molly would say, he's taking a new approach to multiple pages on threads, because the new regime has brought a perspective that he hadn't thought of before....

I am confident this thread gets to 40 pages, not confident platooning at first base will happen no matter what Molly is open too with the new regiment.

Dave,  Despite usually being on opposite sides, this has been interesting and am hoping it works out.  Twins need as much pitching as possible.

On another note, it may well show what Falvey and Levine think of the pitching in the Twins farm system from an outside perspective.  If that is the case this is not good.

Per La Velle this morning in the StarTribune:

At the top of the list is a potential trade involving second baseman Brian Dozier. The Dodgers are among teams showing interest in the former All-Star, but there were rumblings late Wednesday that Los Angeles is trying to re-sign third baseman Justin Turner before using their trade chips elsewhere. If the Dodgers fail to sign him, they’ll have to trade for a third baseman. A couple of other teams are rumored to be interested in Dozier, but have not been identified at this point.

Just wait until the Santana rumors start!

Santana Rumors Begin!

- Twins are trading Ervin for Carlos (the hitter, not the guitarist)

- Twins are re-signing Johan, figuring he can probably throw changeups at three different speeds, and isn't it the variation in velocity what really matters anyway?

- Twins are trying to send Danny to short stints in three different winter leagues, encouraging him to teach his rather unorthodox base-stealing techniques to players in other AL Central organizations.  Unfortunately, so far no other team seems to have a roster spot available.

DaveW,

Thank you for starting this thread. It has helped me with reading during the workday the past few days, and has been fun to follow (mostly) from afar.

Do you think the holdup is on the Twins side, as far as the players they are wanting to get? Or is the holdup more that the Dodgers are waiting on Justin Turner, Kenley Jansen and then potentially trading Brandon McCarthy or Scott Kazmir to create 40 man space? Or are those moves completely unrelated to any potential Brian Dozier trade?

Thanks again!

Bud: Did you see that other thread's headline? "Sale to the Red Sox".

Lou: Who got sold?

Bud: No, Sale.

Lou: No Sale? I thought you said the Red Sox got somebody.

Bud: They did.

Lou: Who?
Bud: No, Sale. It was a trade.

Lou: Who got traded?
Bud: Not that I know of.

Lou: What?

Bud: No, but DaveW does have a rumor concerning second base.

Lou: For a pitcher, right?

Bud: Yeah, Tomorrow.

Lou: That's what he keeps telling us. What's wrong with Today?

Bud: We already signed ourselves a catcher.
