Paul Swydan from Fangraphs said that a reasonable return for Dozier is: 'De Leon and one of the non-Bellinger/Alvarez/Verdugo prospects.'Came

Cameroron has said something similar.  It's going to be awesome if we get Deleon and Bellinger/Alvarez.  Just can't see it.

This thread reminds me of a game thread we had this year where there was a TON of posts before the game was even close to starting.

I remember that one. We were on a 2 page per hour pace that day. Couldn't tell you what the topic was that day, but good times.

it was one started by Riverbrian. I  know at one time we were talking about our favorite things that were green. :-)

Also, I ate really old celery, still not sure it was a good idea, but we'll see.

Your lucky! My daughter asked me on Sunday to "try this Xmas cookie"? I did, smacked my lips, and said "it tastes like lard". "That's what I thought". she said......" I looked at my shortening can, and it was way past dated, really old stuff". I wonder if she was trying to tell me something? :(

I have not been to the webpage for awhile - should I take the time to go through all 28 pages?  Will it improve my baseball IQ?

I haven't even tried to read all of this! But I read enough to know that while the baseball IQ of many, myself included, is definitely debatable, this thread a testament to persistence. That so many have hung in their through the thin and thin of this momentous not yet event shows a passion for Twins baseball not reflected in last years attendance, brat sales, or beer sloshed on the person in front of you. (The seat was empty) It shows that things are definitely looking up in TwinsWorld!

That "movie" was in fact ordered by Twins ownership:

This thread reminds me of a few years ago when the NHL was locked out and a meeting between the players and union had taken place and the media were expecting an announcement. They kept on showing an empty podium on TV for hours. The podium ended up getting its own Twitter account with thousands of followers. But at the end of the night no deal was done. But I spend 4 hours staring at a podium and following it on Twitter. But it was totally worth it.

I think, but am not entirely sure, that there were one too many buts in this post.

I like to think of Dave as a TD Santa Clause... Working his magic to bring us all together before the new year!

Or maybe he's the TD Krampus! The guy who dangled a delicious Dozier trade rumor right in front of our salivating mouths, and yanked it away...

So, someone explain to me how an all-star everyday player with power and good defense gets a lower level of prospect (and no extra players) than the number one prospect received from the Red Sox in the Chris Sale trade.   I understand an ace is valuable, but he only plays once every five days.   A guy like Dozier is going to play nearly every day, and is less likely to blow out an elbow or a shoulder..  I'm not saying the Twins won't get decent value for Dozier compared to the White Sox - but I'm worried!!!

A couple more factors that may or may not have been covered (I've only read 2 of 5 pages of posts, but if I wait until I'm done I will forget what I was going to say)  [Edit - 2 of 31 pages!] :

1.  The market for starting pitching is a sellers' market because there is very little available among the free agents.

2.  The "plays once every 5 days" thing is true, but the impact on the one day can be 5x as valuable as average impact of a position player.

3.  When you add an ace, chances are he's replacing a replacement-level pitcher, since most teams have a AAA-AAAA shuffle at the 5th starter position.  Most contending teams can come up with a league-average 2B on the cheap and make of the offense elsewhere if the price tog for Dozier goes too high.

We used to do that to cats on the farm! Take a stick and push it through a hay bale. The cats would sit there and watch that stick, swipe at it, and chase it. No matter how often, they kept coming back. Like us, the cats were both happy to be excited, and excited to be happy! And like Dave*, I should have felt guilty for taking advantage of beings with lesser intelligence. But seeing the cats so happy made it all worthwhile! :) :).

*I'm just jerking your chain! :)
