Hoping this happens! I love message board sourced rumors - so fun when they turn out true. Couple years ago someone on a Cavs forum predicted the Love/Wiggins trade exactly, his Dad worked in marketing for them.

It happens!

Wow, didn't see this, lol!!! I just commented on this too!!!!!

Not like they have to be in person to complete a deal tho.

Technically true, but I don't think you pack up and leave while on the verge of completing a major trade either.

If 2 of De Leon/Bellinger/Alvarez are on the table, and the Twins fly home, then the Twins aren't serious about trading Dozier, or they are snubbing the Dodgers. Since I don't think either of those are true, I think the Dodgers offer on the table is quite a bit less than that and no deal is imminent.

I have been told two of those three are indeed on the table.

Then why the heck are the Twins leaving the meetings?  If the Dodgers want him that bad, I'm pretty sure we can sit down to final negotiations and figure out the 3rd or 4th pieces.

Maybe the Twins will pay for wifi on their flight so they can continue discussions in the air?

I'm guessing it's because the Twins want one more pitcher in the deal like Alvarez to go along with De Leon and Dodgers aren't budging.

Personally, and I'm probably in the minority, of the two other options being discussed in addition to De Leon, I'd want Bellinger. We have two corner outfielders who are not typical corner outfielder profiles as hitters, and there's also a first baseman who is not a typical first baseman profile as a hitter. Bellinger is a much better fit in that regard at any of those positions.

Alvarez strikes me as a very high risk for Tommy John before he ever reaches the majors, taking into account his profile, age, and level he currently is at.

I see Bellinger as a better fit for the Twins in the future than most others, though I would not be disappointed if Alvarez was the other guy, either.

Unless Bellinger is seen as a corner OF, I don't see him as a need for us, even if he is a stud. We just have so many fairly young guys there; Sano, Park, Vargas, Kepler, Palka, and Mauer for now. Yes, we can trade some of those guys and some of them might not be the answer or pan out, but at least we have young potential there.

Maybe they aren't as high on De Leon as being enough to not include a lot more, or Alvarez as too far away or not a starter.

Meaning, the current offer is pretty much De Leon plus lesser prospects?  That's what I'm thinking too, and that's still a pretty big gap to overcome.

Or do you think the offer could be De Leon plus Bellinger, but the Twins are holding out for Alvarez as a third prospect?  That seems like a pretty big gap the opposite direction.

Neither scenario quite conforms to Dave's source, though.

Yeah, but it's like dial-up speed.  We're waiting to accept the trade until Levine's screen refreshes on his email.

That's the hold up.

We were about to finalize the deal online, but then Dave St. Peter picked up the phone and their modem lost the connection.

Do the Twins want all 3?

Are the Twins insisting on the one (Bellinger or Alvarez) not on the table?

Are they arguing over Beuhler (too valuable for a 3rd player) or Barnes (too much part of the Dodgers plans)?

If we want to subtract Bellinger, and add Alvarez, I think that's defensible.  But it's also very possible in negotiations -- I don't think you wait or walk away if that's what is on the table and that is what you want.

DEAL OR NO DEAL.....

Yeah.  Either way i don't see this happening now.  If De Leon and Bellinger were ever on the table together or De Leon and Alvarez this would have happened by now.  I agree with you.  I think the Dodgers offered De Leon plus lesser prospects and the Twins couldn't squeeze another one out despite what Dave's "source" says.  No disrespect intended.  It just doesn't add up in my mind.

If the Twins & Dodgers can't make a deal here at the winter meetings face to face, I just don't see it happening anytime soon if ever.

I don't buy it.  If that was the case we'd have a deal by now.  I just can't imagine walking away from De Leon & Bellinger or De Leon & Alvarez.  Big mistake on the new management if you ask me.

I think changing the title to reflect what this is makes perfect sense. A rumour without a linked source brought forward by one individual. The thread title would be exactly the same if it was brought forward by Bollinger or Berardino for example.

Yep.  I hope I'm wrong, but I'm calling BS now.  The other thing is the more hits TD gets the more money they make. A little rumor here, little rumor there to stir the pot, brings in the dollars

Dave?..... :)
