DaveW: Dodgers trade for Dozier to be completed within the next 24 hours

Maybe Falvine has a Kluber/Arrieta type favorite targeted for that third guy. Seems like those throw in guys are just as important as the headliners in many cases with big trades.

Actually, neither of those was a particularly "big trade" -- Arrieta was for renting Scott Feldman, and Kluber was for renting Jake Westbrook or Ryan Ludwick (depending on how you slice the 3 team deal).

And the thing about Kluber/Arrieta type targets is they're not difficult to acquire.  They are difficult to identify and develop to their full potential, of course, but not to acquire if you have an asset of any value (as evidenced by the names above).  If the Dodgers have two big names on the table, I am sure the Twins can have their choice of Dodgers farmhands performing comparably to early Kluber and Arrieta as the third piece to get things done.  That's part of the final negotiation, the step that you normally jump to once the two big names are on the board.

Truly ridiculous.

This was quite obvious and your post was completely unnecessary.

You are doing a fine job at annoying your readers and alienating those who contribute to forums.

The obsessiveness of some moderators here to distinguish themselves from posters, to take over and halt threads because you wanted to start your own, to intervene in discussion and label it argumentative, and to publicly rebuke posters is getting out of hand. And I would point out that I am not one of the people getting into long discussions, or being rebuked, etc.

It's the god complex IMO.  I created it or maintain it so i can say or do whatever i want.

I would add too that there appears to be an almost hypocritical application of forum rules for certain posters (including some of the mods) depending on who they are and who they buddy up too.  It's clear that certain individuals here have known each other for many years (5-10+ years) and many of these very same individuals think they can insinuate and post snarky remarks whenever they want while the rest of us are outsiders.  I agree it's annoying and obvious.

6:05AM DaveW bursts out of bed to check MLBTR, only to find the Twins are just interested in Clayton Richard.

I'd like this but apparently there is a like quota in this place!

IMO, this site takes itself way too seriously. It's fine, those of us that come too often know what to expect.....

But, even the contributors take every conversation like it is some life and death thing, and not a few hundred people sitting around a bar talking about trivial sports' topics.

IMO, of course.

Agreed. However, it is that seriousness that give this site its integrity. I appreciate how it doesn't become rumor central with no sources or a place where everyone has a 'hot take' and is trying to make a name.

Yeah.  As long as we are respectful at the end of the day, it's all good.

I'm just speculating on gamesmanship.  You've got the headliner guys you absolutely have to get, but those secondary guys may or may not be more beloved by both teams than we realize.  I think it was you who noted that only 2 of BA's top 10 guys got taken in the Rule V.  The Dodgers might be saying why would you want Eduardo Carrochio?  Why don't you take Art van Delay instead?  BA has him ranked ten spots higher.

I agree that the Kluber/Arrieta types are hard to identify, but maybe that was one of those market inefficiency things and in this case a sticking point.  Or I am, as usual, completely off.

I don't disagree with this luke warm take......

It's more the comments in threads, where people take it like life and death, and not sports' talk.

Yeah well I hope you have a thick skin in case lunch is actually something else.

Blood sausage?  Dad brought some back from the TC's a few months back yuck!  Would rather eat lutefisk or better yet lefse.

To be fair, I wasn't the one who changed the topic to say DaveW, that was all the mods and such (which I think only turns this into more of a sideshow then it should be) we should be discussing the trade, not the merits of the poster.

No, it wasn't the mods ... it was one of the owners of the site. While that's a quibble, it's somewhat an important quibble. This is their site, and thank God for it. Moderators don't own the site and only do things at the behest of ownership, generally speaking.

That's fair, I was surprised by the Eaton return too.  But it still doesn't make sense to me for the Twins to sit on a roughly comparable offer from the Dodgers.

To me, an offer of De Leon/Bellinger or De Leon/Alvarez is basically akin to putting Giolito/Lopez or Moncada/Kopech on the table -- it means you want to get it done.  I don't think the Twins front office would play games at that point -- if you're not willing to immediately engage that offer and get something done, it's a sign you're not really serious and that could put the whole thing in jeopardy.  The Dodgers could turn around and ink Turner at any moment and completely change the complexion of their needs at 2B.  (Or jump on a fire sale deal from the White Sox for Frazier and others.)

I too would also rather they just pounce on the offer if indeed it's out there.  If it is, leverage is the only reason I'd see them holding out.

The Dodgers would never include Vandelay -- he's potential two-way player (importer and exporter). :)

Not to mention he always wanted to pretend to be an architect--of a baseball team.

Carrochio, on the other hand, would be the first major leaguer ever from the Galapagos Islands, if he made it.

Looking unlikely for Dave, unfortunately:

#mntwins contingent heads home in about an hour. No major moves expected before their departure.

But there's also this:
