So do you think if Obama had retweeted a mock video of him hitting a recent political opponent with a golf ball and knocking that person over, that the GOP would just chuckle about it and not be foaming at the mouth?  Do you think Melania is explaining to Barron that showing a video of a woman being hit and knocked over - even if it is by his father - is nothing to emulate?  She is against cyber-bullying after all.

Also - retweeting tweets that basically show off how rich you are and pat you on the back for your charity donations -- does not exactly shout out class or dignity or presidential.

I'm starting to think Donald Trump might not be a good man.

I have started to transition a little though. I no longer blame Trump, he is who we thought he is. This is what enough of our country wanted.

This is what enough of our country wanted.

This was my emerging conclusion during the election process, confirmed with a shock on election night. The things brought out in the course of his campaign should have been disqualifying. Instead, a sizable portion of the electorate considered it a platform to run on. I look at my neighbors a little more askance now; the black hearts are a lot more numerous than I knew.

I do hope we all remember not to group all republicans into his supporters. There are many within the party that are appalled, just too spineless to speak out.

Most of them did speak out at some point in the primary process.  The nature of politics suggest the major public bashing should be over from within the party.  The Democrats John McCain and media will do a fine job bashing him, Republicans need not pile on.

Sounds like that new Graham Cassidy health care bill that they are trying to sneak by with 90 seconds of debate and before the CBO can do a complete  analysis might actually be worse than the previous ones, and has a chance of passing.

It is sad that the thing they have spent almost all their energy on the last 8 years or so is removing health care and not bothering to come up with an alternative.  They really don't care about people, they just want their victory against the former president at any cost.

Even more smoke coming from special council. I do wonder about the legality of these things being leaked right now. Obviously, I'm not on trumps side on any of this, but if these things are supposed to be kept quiet they need to stop the leaks.

On the other hand, things are getting significant. One way or another, the American people need to know how much of a scumbag Trump really is. His 20% base will support him no matter what, but the rest of the country might have more common sense the next time.

I think the leaks are intentional.  The only real way to remove the president is by impeachment which is a political mechanism requiring the will of the people (and you touch on this).  The slow drip keeps the Russia story in the news, and helps ensure public will when the time does come.

I no longer have confidence in the electorate, even for extreme cases like this. The drip just inures too many people to the present horrifying reality.

Day 1: a dead body

Day 2: denials of involvement

Day 3: bloody knife found

Day 4: denials of involvement - "fake news"

Day 5: fingerprints found on the knife

Day 6: denials of involvement - "media bias"

...

Day 100: indictment for murder

Day 101: "there is nothing new here - time to move on"

Your cynicism is fair.  But if the facts add up to treason, I don't think ignorance/news-fatigue will overcome the majority.

Lol, his approval ratings inched up...good grief.

I doubt he's going anywhere soon, just a lot of bluster, as usual.

Well, gallup is the one to watch and he's been in the high 30s for quite some time with disapproval in the mid 50s or higher.

Occasionally he'll get a jump up when he acts tough on N. Korea (we're totally going to go to war) but then people remember he's a dick and his numbers go down.

I think he will possibly get a little jump, because people will think he looked Presidential during the hurricanes and FEMA seemed to be more efficient.  Although I read somewhere, Obama (and W after Katrina) were the ones who made changes to how we react to natural disasters.  Plus, who knows how things will go long-term when the media buzz has died down.

It does bug me when he takes credit for something that was actually done by a previous administration.  At times mocking the predecessor (usually Obama) saying look what I got done that you did not, even though the predecessor was actually the one who did the work and set everything in place.

Occasionally he'll get a jump up when he acts tough on N. Korea (we're totally going to go to war) but then people remember he's a dick and his numbers go down.

He also seems to go off the rails anytime he gets any positive feedback.  The media will comment -- he sounded more Presidential (they get fooled by Teleprompter Donald almost every time) and two days later he will have  tweet storm or be Rally Donald.

His Administration handled the hurricane response well. He deserves credit for that.

But his approval will start trending down again soon enough. He is who he is.

so far, they look competent on the disaster front. Let's see if they have the stamina to fix Puerto Rico (and I'd not blame Trump one way or the other if they do/don't).

I don't know that we should be giving Trump or his administration credit for the Hurricane response.  FEMA is an agency with I believe only two political appointments (the head confirmed in June, and the Deputy was confirmed on Sept. 14th), who probably didn't have time to gut the agency (or use its funding to take a private jet tour).

As far as optics, I thought Trump and FLOTUS pretty much flubbed the Texas visit.

Just because a government response to a given phenomenon wasn't a complete and utter disaster does not mean that Trump is somehow worthy of praise.  Sadly, that seems to be the new standard, relative to the general competence of Trump's government.

This is preaching to the choir -- but look at his twitter feed (or really don't).  With all the disasters going on   His tweets praising himself or denigrating someone else far out number his tweets regarding the disasters.  Even when he does tweet about them, half of them are patting himself or his agencies on the back, and the others you feel are because someone told him - you should tweet this about Puerto Rico.

I guess his aids told him not to get personal with Kim Jon Un right before the attack, but his ego and impulses are more important to him than a potential global crisis.  As I was watching Tilerson being interviewed, I could not help but think - it is great at this time we have a Secretary of State whose main resume point is that he was CEO of Exxon and was maybe chosen because of his relationship with Putin and/or his willingness to dismantle the State Department (which is now short of staff that it could probably use now).

Glad Trump has his priorities and speaks out against NFL players with more ease than he does white supremacy groups.

(and can you imagine the swawking if Obama's secretaries were all using private jets to fly about one hour).

Now going after Steph Curry. If only there was something tying him, Colin Kaepernick and Jemele Hill together. Truly a mystery.

They are Episcopalian?

He does not like any criticism, but he does always seem to really respond extra quickly if it is a person of color or if it is a woman.

He responds more quickly to people of a certain status. 99.9% of white members of the current mainstream anti cop hate group are complete nobodys.  I seem to recall myself reacting quickly when the white Governor of this state made what I considered stupid comments the day before 7 Dallas officers were murdered in the name of the movement.  I don't know if Trump is as enraged by anti cop hate rhetoric as I am, but keep in mind we will never forget even if the media and the movement want everyone to forget.  After 5 years of shouting from the rooftops Bernghazi we figured out certain people will never care if it comes from out side, we're done reminding you of horrifying things, but we will never ever ever ever forget what happened in Dallas the day after Mark Dayton threw fuel on the fire.  By the way whats going on with the latest Minneapolis officer involved shooting, nobody seems to care.  racism goes multiple ways.
