Champ, we don't need to sort through 5 different news sources to see what is going on. You can watch press conferences live, read the bcra actual text, watch the Senate question people live. We don't have to rely on third party sources all the time. When we do, like the recent opinions on the minimum wage in Seattle, it is important to look at various sources. I've read Robert Reich, the Washington post, and 538 weigh in on what is going on. I've already seen said study mischaracterized on Facebook by a right wing fanatic.

 

Yes, cable is driven by ratings. We have stupid panels now that have people on opposite sides debate. It's terrible tv, but gets ratings. I'd love for a no nonsense, only the facts outlet, but it doesn't exist because most people find it boring.

It is stuff like this that makes me a little nervous for any future election and its results.  They are going to continue to work at making it difficult for certain people to vote.

I wish I could say Trump did not reveal his true colors during the campaign, but people actually voted for someone who clearly showed the emotional maturity of a pre-schooler who has 666 behind his ear.

Another nasty tweet by Trump. How anyone could support him at this point is beyond me. I've never seen an elected official act like this. It is simply shocking that our president is acting worse than a middle school bully.

I might have said this already on this thread, can't remember. I've always respected the office of president. It meant something. Even if I disagreed with the current holder's politics, even when I've complained about the current holder's politics, I still always respected them, because they were the President of the United States. With Trump? No. And it has nothing to do with his politics, but with him. He is a horrible human being, it doesn't matter what his politics is, he, himself is a horrible, awful human being, with not one ounce of humanity or compassion for anyone. He's just a horrible, horrible person. Given that, for the first time in my lifetime, I do not respect this office holder, I don't care who he is. I won't refer to him as my president and I don't care if he went through a duly sanctified process to 'win.' He is not a respectable person, in any way whatsoever. Not. My. President.

I have to make an assumption or two on the IRS targeting scandal.  But I have seen a president act far worse.  The last president set the bar, so far this president hasn't approached it.

A notable difference is that the orgs targeted were actually breaking the law. It is a stupid law that invites corruption in its enforcement. But they were acting illegally.

 

Hard to see that as comparable to what we're seeing now.

Sigh.... Trump pulling a classic mis-direction with this stupid CNN wrestling gif scandal during a time when they're repealing Obama Care with NO plan to replace, and a s*** storm crisis going on in North Korea. He's treating the chair of President as a reality TV show, and it's getting real annoying, real fast.

He's been bothering me for a long time now as well. I'm more of a reader than poster on this thread, but I've been with many of you with your frustrations since he was elected.

Well now that the G20 is over... the world leaders know for sure what Trump is made of. He is a spineless and ignorant pawn. I don't think for one second he pressured Putin about anything. I believe Tillerson has pushed the topic, but not Trump. When you hold a press conference on foreign soil and undermine our intelligence agencies and our free press... I really hope the amount of damage he does is contained during his term, but I loathe that we are no longer considered the leader of the free world.

 

I would really like to see the media go savage on him. Not these little panels with people that have no shame contradicting themselves. I want full savagery. Destroy Trump everyday for the things he is doing. Fox News did it with Obama, they weren't accurate about the coverage and didn't care. They misrepresented through their teeth and continue to be the epitome of fake news. I'm not asking for that, just full on savagery with facts. It has to happen.

How?  There's a lot to be critical of him but how do they actually successfully accomplish this.  And if they do destroy Trump then what.  Other then going at him from the right which I know isn't what the people who want to destroy Trump want what can you do?  In the end the left and the media is making Rand Paul or Cruz 2024 more and more credible every day.  If you could somehow change that to Rand Paul or Cruz 2020 that would be spectacular.

Paul and Cruz are significantly more credible.

 

I disagree with the previous post, there is little purpose for the media doing any of what was suggested. Just report what Trump does and says, it will be enough.

 

I think the likely outcome is either Bernie Sanders or someone from his economic perspective. For all the complaints from conservatives on Obama's economic policies, the next President is going to make Obama look like Milton Friedman.

 

A lefty on economics, a "pause" on social issues, and a hawk on Russia would clean house.

Should add, I do think Paul and especially Cruz are frauds. They don't especially stand for anything other than complaining. And when they do complain they are on the wrong side of where issues are trending for the majority of voters.

Is the trend continuing in the same direction or did sometime in the last few years the trends flip.  It's tough to know for sure yet but I feel like at the very least those trends have stalled.

If Trump is destroyed, the people propping him up should be called out for it. I don't think simply reporting the facts is enough. The late night comedians are going savage, and it's working. I think CNN losses credibility when they have fanatics on their program that take a preposterous position.

 

I'm not calling for Colbert to become a news host. I think the news has been far too gentle, despite what Trump says. I'm just at the point where they need to stop being politically correct to appease people who dislike politically correctness. What they are doing isn't working.

Like all freedom, gay marriage is inevitable. Other than that, I don't see any trends other than denyig basic science in the last nine years.
