POTUS Donald Trump

Loretta Lynch is not having a good day.

Comey's called Trump a liar several times, seems truthful, and even the republican senators are taking this seriously. Not a good day for Trump.

I didn't get to watch much, but I watched John McCain's portion over lunch, but only on closed caption. It looked like he was trying to deflect for Trump. Did anyone see his testimony? Because reading the closed captions, McCain sounded deluded and unable to hold a rational and logical conversation. Closed captions aren't too reliable though when it comes to translating English.

I've long had an on-again, off-again love affair with John McCain. Just a month ago it seemed like he was ready to help oust Trump and then today it sounded like he thought Trump should be exonerated and he thought dog-piling on Clinton was a good decision. This guy has never been able to maintain a consistent personae ever since Bush pulled some of the dirtiest campaign tricks against him in the 2000 primaries.

I only heard bits and pieces of it, so cannot give an accurate assessment, but from what I have heard I am not sure how his supporters are saying he has been completely cleared.  I could see how they would think impeachment is not a given, but I thought there were still enough questions raised that Trump is not exactly off the hook yet.  He really could shoot someone, and they would rationalize it.

Paul Ryan on saying he is new to this, and did not know the protocol and what might be perceived as obstructing justice is such a crock.  He might be the biggest weasel out there.

One of the main reasons Trump needs to go down, is that he needs to take his family with him.  Don Jr. and Eric have been way to visible this week.  They share their father's combination of arrogance, ignorance, greed, and petty vindictiveness.

Just catching up on the fivethirtyeight blog... Some of these Republican Senators, namely Blunt, Risch, and Rubio and their ability to pretzel interpretation of words Trump said is mind.boggling.

McCain was really odd. It was sad to watch and just as bad as the CC would suggest. He seemed to confuse the Clinton investigation with the Russian one and wouldn't accept Comey's help.

His response to being incoherent?

"I get the tense from Twitter that my line of questioning today went over people's heads. Maybe going forward I shouldn't stay up late watching the Diamondbacks night games," he said in a statement.

This is all IMO.

Jim Comey is a very honorable man. He is comfortable in honesty and has no comfort elsewhere. Since he was fired, he has strategically played Trump the fool at every corner. I am very impressed.

I watched a fair amount of the testimony today and I am glad he was able to rationally defend himself from Trump's lies and slander and I was glad that some shade was thrown on Loretta Lynch and the "Matters" situation. It was just another confirmation that both political parties are FUBAR.

Trump is a bad person with bad intentions and I hope today's testimony will be the first domino to fall in the REAL start of Donald Trump's demise and destruction.

In a time when this country seems to be obtuse, lost and divided for sure, it is people like Comey that I believe can be the heroes we need to get us back on track. Hopefully Mueller is the next hero to take the stage.

That is sad. He truly is an American hero. Hopefully I'm just reading too much into his bizarre questions and confusion.

He's being loyal to his party, deflecting for the orange one, instead of looking for the truth.

Make no mistake, the democrats are digging their claws into this. The ironic thing is, most of the Trump base was up in arms over the drama surrounding Clinton, yet continue to disregard what is happening now. The voters in the middle, however, are going to look past this as easily. The best thing the democrats can do is continue this investigation until after the midterms, get Trump impeached then, and gain large majorities in 2020. The republicans on the other hand, I believe should cut bait asap. They're not though, through arrogance or fear.

From today's cabinet meeting.  Everyone had to go around the table and say something ala The Apprentice.  A lot of genuflecting happening.  I imagine the annual TD board meeting is similar to this.

Is that real? I mean, any normal administration I'd just assume it was a poor attempt at humor someone.... but I don't ****ing have any idea with this group.

If he fires Mueller he is pulling the pin out of a grenade. **** is going to get real. This will ruin him and should ruin any supporter of his. People can't be that dumb right? Right?

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, well, then you can't get fooled again.

The Golden State Warriors have unanimously agreed to not visit the White House.

I saw a tweet about that and meant to check to see if it was real.  There is so much weirdness (in a not good way) happening right now, I read things and have no idea what is real and what is not.  Things that would have been too outrageous for the Onion at one point are now happening.

I also wanted to say I feel lucky and blessed to be able to read Twins Daily.  You truly are the best website in the world, and your knowledge as well as your writing and web design are making the internet great again.  you are incredible.

Interesting article on 538 today....about Trump moving Europe to the left.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/donald-trump-is-making-europe-liberal-again/

The last paragraph makes it clear we can't be sure, but it sure seems like it MIGHT be causation...

I'm pretty sure he is moving America to the left. Look at these special elections and polling numbers. The majority of Americans dislike Trump already, unless a miracle happens the gop is going to lose a lot of ground the next 2 elections.

I hope so but it's not going to do any good if they don't get out to vote. The lunatic fringe doesn't appear to really be fringe anymore; if they are going to turn out en masse, the left has to do better than 55%.

Also it would help if, you know, states stopped trying to make laws that make it difficult for the left to vote.

Most of America are sick of Trumps act, that's not a left or right thing.  There was a congressional and state and local elections and despite Trump being beat by what I would call an awful Democrat candidate by a decent margin in popular vote Republicans won across the board.  As for special elections one thing to keep in mind Trump as a political amateur might not have picked the safest nominees in terms of replacing them.  Trend lines look good for Democrats in these limited one at a time well funded races, and if you look at the tea party example that looks like a big deal, but enough to flip congress still seems like as long of a shot as the Republicans padding the lead.  Don't confuse anti-Trump with pro democrat.
