POTUS Donald Trump

Trump's poll numbers are absolute ****. http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/05/politics/donald-trump-poll-job-approval/index.html

And he doubled down on his tweet attack on the London mayor this morning because he's so stupid that he can't understand context. We aren't far away from the GOP just abandoning this guy.

I see no evidence of anyone that is hard core anti democrat abandoning him at all. None.

I will bet you have friends and family members who voted Trump. Talk to them. I bet almost none of them have changed their mind.

The GOP CAN'T abandon him. They elected him.

GOP will not abandon him at all costs. The backlash from his radical base would be too much. While that base is shrinking, it will absolutely never dissipate. Even if fox news starts to bash him, which they never will, his base will ignore it. Facts don't matter to these people.

It appears about 10% of the people who voted for him no longer support him.

I know a couple, but they should have known better in November. I also know several who are doubling down. It's an interesting mix.

I'd guess plenty of these folks aren't actually happy with him but would never admit so at the voting both or in a poll, even anonymously.

At this point I'm hoping a more sane old GOP stalwart steps up in the next primary to oppose him. Lindsey Graham perhaps. McCain is probably too old. Then these voters who are quietly disgusted but who would never admit as much wouldn't have to be "wrong" about Trump, they just found another GOPer who's "better". Maybe Boehner gets back into the mix. Yuck, can't believe I just typed that.

Many of the ones who voted for him did not support him. It was a whipped-up anti-Hillary vote.

An anti-Hillary vote probably didn't need to get whipped up too much, she brought plenty upon herself.

Trump's support, such as it is, won't stay when he faces an actual domestic crisis not of his own doing, and/or there is a slip in the economy. That's when the "responsible" Republicans will finally leave him.

There is some truth to that, but I think it was no shows that lost the election. I was not enthused by Clinton but I voted for her. I believe a lot of people just don't care and are too involved in there own lives. This seems to be the way of things in these times.

I was terrified of Trump becoming president and am terrified of him being the president, that was reason enough for me to vote. I think younger folks just don't give a **** about voting unless it is some transcending individual who will make everyone's wildest dreams come true.

These are folks that mainly agree with the left, which in turn could cause a lot of problems in the years to come.

Some are happy with him but several aren't. They voted for him hoping he'd focus on their economic concerns and not push the anti-immigrant stuff. They're not happy. (I also know several third party voters who are really upset about how the vote turned out).

I would think there are some old school, pre-tea party Republicans who have a 5 x 7 framed picture of Reagan on their desk who are secretly disgusted at his boorish behavior and his using the office for personal gain for his businesses  and shocked at the possible ties to Russia, the country they grew up thinking of as the big bad enemy.  It would have been nice if more of them would have had a decency threshold to speak up than they have at this point....  Every once in awhile Lindsey and McCain looked like they were going to have a spine, but quickly showed they were mostly talk and not willing to break the party line.

Not that I feel sorry for any of these people, but can you imagine what a nightmare it is to work with him at this point.

This is a bit judgmental, but nice when he was so concerned about his son's trauma and what is going on in Britain, that he found time to go golfing at his resort both weekend days.  Maybe he felt Peyton would be able to help him with the developing situation with Qatar.  I am feeling really good about having an arms deal with the Saudis at this point as well.

I noticed he tweeted about a terrorist incident in Melbourne that killed one person and injured three cops.  I must have scrolled too quickly, because I somehow missed his comment on yesterday's workplace shooting in FL.

I am not minimizing the seriousness and tragedy of a terror attack, but if Trump cannot use something to his advantage, he does not give a damn.

I'm not sure he is smart enough to be making value judgments as to which stance is more advantageous. I think he's a typical racist twit who exhibits dual morality. He thinks that people like him should get all privileges, and people not like him are worthless. This does not make him any different from the rest of the GOP, mind you, though he is more severe than most. He has no filter.

Couple days late on this. But why aren't we talking about how many less are dead because they didn't have assault weapons?

That's exactly what I thought when I read that tweet. How many would be dead had they had an ar15? Or even a 9mm with pocket full of clips? I'm not much for name calling, but the guy is a complete idiot.

CNN is reading Comey statements/memos. Wow. All I can say, is this guy better go down. Hopefully his whole cabinet goes with him.

Lol, and fox news claims he is clearing the air. What a shameful organization.

PBS is doing a best of Ken Burns special tonight and showing clips of past documentaries.  They just showed a blurb of Obama and Michele talking about Jackie Robinson.  They spoke in complete, sentences, seemed to give some thought to what they were saying, and did not somehow work their comments around to claim credit for Jackie's success.   The Obama Presidency seems so long ago...

[if you haven't seen it, the Ken Burns Jackie Robinson documentary was well done, which I guess is probably a given.]

Comey's statement today is what I expected. Trump's actions are grotesque, but probably not really realistic as a obstruction of justice offense. We will see what happens tomorrow, but I would not get your hopes up. We still have a long way to go on this.

I hope they find something and he is impeached and prosecuted and ends up in prison.

We will see in the coming years.

It's not enough to impeach him imo. Unless there are tapes, it is only a hear say account. However, this has to strengthen the narrative that he is a slime ball. Comey is great in front of Congress. He will skillfully navigate any question to what he wants to imply. The big question here, is how much disdain he has for Trump. There is no good outcome for Trump at this point, only a meh or a really really bad one. The investigation will still continue, which I argue is worse than impeachment for the GOP.

I totally agree with what you said. Let's lay everything aside and see what happens as I want the same outcome as you do. (Trump needs to be ousted)

I am skeptical.
