I'd be more than happy if James Comey ends up being talked about in history books with guys like Woodward and Bernstein and Elliot Ness.

First pot -- kettle when calling someone a nut-job, but besides that this probably is not good for the Orange one.

President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

He's literally bragging about obstructing justice.  Jesus.

Does the Montana throat slam help or hurt the GOP candidate, Greg Gianforte?

Good on the Fox News reporters to relay their account, adverse as it was to Gianforte's own statement.

"You had ONE job, the day before an election, Greg! To not bodyslam any journalists while in the presence of other journalists. ONE JOB!"

That poster reminds me of the American Experience episodes they just had on WWI on PBS.  Interesting parallels to the present day with how the German Americans were treated and Wilson trying to hammer down on any dissent.  The African American soldiers also got not so nice welcomes when the returned from the front with the establishment a bit uneasy with their wanted equal treatment leading to a rise in racial violence.  Sometimes it feels like one step forward two steps back and no one every really pays attention the history repeats itself warning.

Trump won Montana by 20, Gianforte won by 6. Not a victory, but certainly inroads.

Looks like a 14-15 D lean on Congressional special elections and about 11 on State Legislature elections.

Paul Ryan is a R+5 district right now. Would be poetic to see him go down.

It's really hard to keep track of everything happening in this Administration. The attempted subversion of our country and its institutions is happening in broad daylight.

For the rest of my life I will never cease to be amazed that that many people voted for Donald Bleeping Trump.

The behavior of Flynn, Kushner, and even the President sure makes it seem like Russia has something on Trump and family.   Whether its evidence of crimes, unpaid serious debts, or whatever skeletons and golden showers--there's a too much smoke present for it to be simple naivete; these guys were acting with a disregard that stinks of desperation.   It remains a question whether the FBI can find evidence of any it, but at some point Russia may decide the better play is to sink the Trumps themselves by an information dump.

Oh, I've thought for a while now that their long-game with the unexpected success of getting Trump elected is to bring down his presidency and see what kind of chaos it brings. Not quite this soon, but yeah.

Well, that's still not the long-game, which is to nudge along the breakup of the US into two or more fragments of countries. They've seen the Jesusland Map, same as you and me.

(The short game had been just to mess with Hillary.)

Wait, let me get this straight. The guy who just choked and bodyslammed a reporter in a fit of rage, won the election?

Sad

There were a lot of early ballots cast, as in most elections. I think I saw that a casual survey indicated that some percentage of people who voted early said they would have changed their vote.

Still, in that part of the country, I think the candidate's behavior counts less as a scandal, and more as a platform to run on. Teh Mediaz, you know. Break their coke-bottle glasses and they are powerless.

Putting words in someone else's mouth is a standard tool in satire, and is valid in that context; but when the cues are taken away it becomes just Fake News, and I'm not a fan of that whichever side of the debate it comes from.
