POTUS Donald Trump

If it doesn't pass, the GOP supporters will blame the democrats and still vote republican for the house and senate.  Why? Because their voters, the same ones who would get destroyed by the bill, won't get a chance to see how badly it would have hurt them.

I've been thinking about this for a while. Donald Trump is president because Republicans (more than Democrats) will accept anything with an "R" behind it, even Donald Trump and this abomination of a health care package. Otherwise sensible people voted for Trump simply because he was nominated by the Republican party. Many Republicans in the House voted for a terribly flawed bill solely because it was sponsored by the Republican House leadership. These people should be held accountable for putting party ahead of principle and country.

This will end up hurting the Republican party. Not even waiting to see the report? They are going to get crushed with this. The public isn't dumb, at least not as dumb as the republicans want them to be.

I just talked about health care with a customer today. I told him I was in favor of a universal plan and it would save everyone a bunch of money. He asked if I knew anyone from Canada, and if they liked their coverage. I informed him I know and work with a number of people that are satisfied with their care in Canada. The only people that I know complain haven't experienced health care in the usa.

Well, I believe so too, but there is an outcome for this that we should consider:  What if premiums do actually go down?

They most assuredly will.

With flexibility in what is covered, and with deductibles, I'm certain that a case will be made that premiums have gone down for the average family. It won't be an apples-to-apples comparison, but it will throw enough smoke that Trump will pass counterarguments off as fake-newspeople trying to smear his accomplishments.

The Democrats are falling for the old RopeADope. They'll keep punching at Trump but discover they never can knock him out, and find that people have tuned their message out making them vulnerable to whatever counter-flurry Trump comes up with for the mid-terms.

Well said, I'm not as convinced they'll go down, but if they do I think the Dems are in for a long four years.

He's still at just over 40% approval. He is historically disliked, and passionately so.

This is despite the fact that the economy is still going relatively strong and there has been no major world event. A normal President would be at least in the high 50s, or likely the 60s right now, with a lot more legislation passed.

It is barely over 100 days, don't get ahead of the normal ebb and flow of this.

How do some of you that are Christians feel about the mostly toothless EO about the Johnson amendment.

Thankful that it was toothless.

Rejecting the Johnson Amendment is a terrible idea for Christians. Not terribly surprising that a handful of loud, politically involved "Christian" leaders are the ones that want it.

That was my thought, I can't imagine a greater threat to a true faith than rabid political involvement.

We hear about the separation of church and state largely in the context of protecting the state, but it protects religion every bit as much.

Protects religion way, way, way more.

It is such a short sighted tactic that doesn't even clearly benefit churches (it is certainly good for politicians though) and potentially leads to huge problems in the future.

Turns out nominating a run of the mill center leftist with minimal baggage keeps the establishment right from voting with the crazy populist. Or at least should.

What's the name of the book?

"Ivanka, working my way up the chain of my Father's businesses and avoiding his sexual overtures."

I think every President should have a webpage where he can put out his alternative facts and collect money and sell merchandise at the same time.

I don't think I need to state I think he might be a little ego-driven.  I guess you have to given him credit for not displaying false humility.

"Donald J. Trump is the very definition of the American success story, setting the standards of excellence in his business endeavors, and now, for the United States of America."

Wow.  Bad day for Comey who fudged the actual facts on the Clinton email saga, and now he gets fired.   Did Comey not lie enough for you, Mr. Trump?

Edit: The more that I think about it, Comey's recent fumbles with the Clinton emails provided Trump a lot of cover, as Comey's firing is likely not to generate much backlash from the left.

Yet, it's hard to imagine that a Trump appointee will be any more independent than Comey was.   I wonder how this will effect the logistics or directives of the Russia investigation.  The need for an independent investigation, with security clearance, is perhaps at an all time high.

The country is starting to run out of time for Trump's incompetence to save us. Some Republican Senators actually have to do something politically courageous.

I imagine he goes after journalists pretty soon.

I think he has already been working pretty hard and de-legitimizing the media. Not that they have not done things to make this a little easier for him, but his "fake news" meme and basically endorsing Fox News and their views any chances he can get shows he values being a "winner" over the truth.  I heard one of the agencies was told their TV should always be on Fox News.

He's certainly been greasing the wheels to shut some down and arrest them.

In other news, we are expanding our troop levels in Afghanistan (again) and are now overtly arming the Kurds. That's going to spill into Turkey.

Don't worry - I think he has assigned Jared to take care of that problem, so it is in good hands.

The Republicans really do need to stop pretending their is a competent adult in the White House and put the long term good of the country (world) in front of the agenda they are trying to get through before Trump completely goes insane.
