POTUS Donald Trump

Here's what I want the Republicans and Democrats to agree on: time to dramatically curtail the use of executive orders.  We are on a 16 year run of ramping this up and Trump is abusing it like crazy.

Republicans should be all about this (not letting the executive branch run crazy) and the Dems have obvious interest in it right now.  Convincing the Republicans of what they should favor is the difficult part, but you might have enough principled members stand up.

It was evil when Obama did it (or good, if you were on the other side), now it's good (or evil) when Trump does it.

Frankly, I think there is space for this type of action. I just don't know how much space.....

IMO executive orders, for the most part, are bad policy. No matter who uses them. I wasnt for President Obama doing a bunch of them, and I am not for Trump using them either. Trump is basically trying to be dictator and you have had an organization CBP, not following orders from Federal judges because Chancellor Trump gave them illegal and unconstitutional marching orders.

"These protestors at JFK should get a job!" - Man who made his living playing a child's game and was able to retire a multimillionaire at the age of 35 because of a union.

I love this from the comments section of the above article (nice to bring some baseball into this thread):

Hayes Davenport @hayesdavenport
everybody out protesting today had a higher WAR than you did in 2001, 2009, 2011, and 2012. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1213&position=1Bhttps://twitter.com/aubrey_huff/status/825889581027385344

Executive Orders in and of themselves are overhyped as a menace. They are just guidance on how the branch is to carry out duties.

The problem is too much power and discretion concentrated in the Executive. Been trending this way for decades and not exactly clear how a divided Congress pushes back.

I love the thought that anyone protesting doesn't have a job......could he be more mistaken if he tried?

Whenever I want to feel like I have hit my head against a wall of broken glass -- I will look at random responses in the twitter world, and often see comments about "of course libtards can protest they don't have jobs" or "a libtard could never afford that - they are all on food stamps".

I am feeling like I am becoming less of a humane person though - because I do not feel sorry for KellyAnn even though she said ""If you are part of team Trump, you walk around with these gaping, seeping wounds every day."   She is sacrificing so much for the country and yet I feel no sympathy for her.  Perhaps five time draft deferee Trump can give her the purple heart he took from a veteran.

At least Spicer is on the ball, using the Quebec shooting to bolster the argument of Trump's immigration ban, because it would have kept out that white Canadian who liked Trump and Le Pen on facebook.  The country is in good hands.

He probably has a limited data plan, and he needed to get out the tweet mocking Schumer for crying.  He has to prioritize and get the important stuff out there.  (I see he just sent out a self-congratulatory tweet about his small business summit.  He is probably taking to time to craft something sincere and thoughtful and will be tweeting that shortly.)

He's waiting for Bannon to tell him what to do next.

I would argue the two go hand in hand. The increase in power has coincided with the increase in executive orders.

I am employed by a very small business and I have worked there for 19+ years and this is the slowest it has been business wise since I have worked there, shortly after election day you could see the difference. I talk to friends who work for smaller corporate businesses and the trend is the same.

I think we are standing on ground that has a huge void beneath it and it is about to give way.

Trump is the worst possible thing that could have happened to us in a time of religious and cultural turmoil, and a time where we are struggling with our identity as a nation. We are divided between an educated and uneducated nation along with other variables within the gray area who are picking sides.

I thought that ******* would equalize after he won, but that is a no go.

This is not a left or right thing. This is all about preservation. I worry about my future, your future, and the unfortunate ones who have been left behind.

I hate fear, but it's grip is not far away.

He has had a busy night - first the acting AG and now the director of ICE.

I Interesting choice of words saying he there was "betrayal" when firing the AG.  No overreach of power here.

Is it too early to start impeachment proceedings?

In all honesty, the pace and ferocity of what he's doing has a better chance of disrupting Republican support than anything else.  If this was slow played it may be harder to get bi-partisan resistance.  We're already seeing wide-spread doubt on the right from Senators, Reps, the Koch brothers, and others.

That might be our best, and only, hope.
