POTUS Donald Trump

It's ****ing embarrassing that hardly anyone on the right side of the aisle is standing up to trump in any meaningful way.

This "Muslim" ban is not only deeply disturbing, its highly illegal. I'm ashamed to be an American at this point. Disgusting.

None of the Democrats are standing up to him in any meaningful way either.

Not ashamed to be an American, but ashamed he is the President.

Define meaningful way... I think the democrats have been pretty active in protesting the outrageous. Warren and Booker were actually at airports, protesting with the thousands of others (hundreds according to fox).

The tactic has to change and push back against this nonsense. If the democrats fail to destroy in the mid terms, the party should gut itself. Within the first week of a trump presidency, I'm hoping a good number of his supporters are thinking twice about what they did. Unfortunately, humanitarian assaults will only get so many votes from that side. There really needs to be a stagnant wages and economic struggles for his base to divert.

I also find offense to the notion that our news outlets are not reputable. I have had this discussion with others, and it's really disheartening to think some believe our journalists are more concerned with clicks than legitimacy. This cloud that has been created is a farce.

As far as I can tell, people are protesting so that someone in Washington will act, particularly people in Congress. Warren in Congress. She should be writing appropriate legislation and working with her peers to drum up support. If Warren's only option to fix a serious problem is to make a speech and go to a protest, this country is already lost.

Warren also rubber stamped some of his cabinet nominations.

Mass media does have problems. Largely they roll over when things get tough much like Democrats do. Granted, few of us are able to deal with rabid, screaming people very well.

Realize that the far right took over German in 1871. In Germany, it was 40 years before conservatives started truly acting on what they had been preaching. German nationalism gave the world two world wars and the mass murder of minorities. With today's rapid mass media this is likely to happen much faster in the US. Nevertheless, we have to be prepared to fight this battle for the rest of our lives. It did not begin with Trump and it won't end with Trump.

The stakes are higher at the moment than any of us can even fathom. This is a key moment in US and world history. Most of us are realizing we must do something, but we still don't know what we can truly do. Lawyers are doing a good job, the rest of us are still trying to figure things out.

What do you suggest?

I'm sure Warren would be more than willing to impeach trump now with partisan support. Problem is, it doesn't matter what she proposes if the gop is going to follow trump off a cliff. Honestly, this first week is worse than i could have even imagined. I'm horrified to have this man represent me and America.

Canada has their own issues, flared up tonight.

As much as I dislike the policy Trump enacted, this is a global point of conflict in most all Western nations.

Going forward, if you find yourself writing something like "As much as I dislike the policy Trump enacted" you really should stop writing right there.

Of course Canada has issues, there is no country that is immune to these type of attitudes and acts of violence. What will be important is the reaction moving forward, and I guarantee the reaction will not be to turn our backs on the people who truly look towards countries like Canada for safety and refuge.

Policies like the one enacted by Trump only embolden people who act  like this, it serves as validation.

The House votes to impeach and with the Tea Party controlling the Republicans in the House, an impeachment is not happening any time soon.  As a Senator, Warren cannot impeach anybody.

She needs to be drumming up support by networking and working on legislation.

The Tea Party and the Koch Brothers are joined at the hip. And Mike Pence is the Koch Brothers' man, 100%.

They are too smart to do it in the first month of the president's term.

But some kind of unholy alliance of Warren-wing liberals and Koch Brothers sympathizers could wind up being what brings Trump down. I just hope the former truly sees a Pence presidency as preferable, if that's the route they choose, and that they have a realistic plan for dealing with the outcome. Because I can see Pence being the one to really consolidate what this fluke election outcome has started.

It was simply to point out that what gave rise to Trump is not necessarily an American-only phenomenon.  Which doesn't make it better, I grant.

I don't disagree, I was just pointing out that sometimes we get caught in our own little bubble of American issues and we lose perspective on how things are going throughout the rest of the world.  Sometimes our plight isn't as isolated as we might think.

He's a piece of **** but he's also lying.  We know that well over 300 people were detained and held for questioning and CBP has been very close-lipped about it so the real number is almost certainly much higher.

This is like 9/11 all over again.  Lawyers would contact jails and detention centers to try and find their clients and they would be straight away lied to about whether the person was there or not.

No, certainly not isolated, like I said this type of sentiment exists pretty much everywhere. I think the difference to me is the level of Nationalist sentiment In America right now that helped bring a guy like Trump to power. It's not a coincidence that this type of act happened in Quebec, Quebecers are historically very nationalistic people, but the vast majority of Canada is not. As a country we are only a year removed from emphatically rejecting the type of leadership that Trump espouses, which I'm glad for.

He puts the travel restrictions in place and omits countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Lebanon, Places where he personally does business in and where the 9/11 terrorists came from.

Uh uh, you mean where his KIDS do business. He has absolutely, positively no business interests anymore and is completely objective and solely beholden to the best interests of our country now!

I saw this at a check-out line yesterday trying to make them look all fun loving and adorable, and I thought I was going to self-combust.  One of my fears is that the spawn are going to be around causing damage for years.

The past 20 years of Democrats rolling over tells me that.

Bill Maher's latest rant said it all. Democrats have become the party of saying the right things but doing nothing, esp. when the task at hand is challenging Republicans.

I love that rant, but I think the thing that sticks out to me is what he opened it with: majority of Americans want the platform of the Democrats.  And he's right.  So how do they keep losing them?  And lose them to someone who so obviously doesn't share them?

Warren is smart and almost always on point, I hope she takes some leadership in solving this issue.  It's the one Democrats should be focused on at all levels of government.

WTF  - Donald Trump Shuffles National Security Council.

Executive measure adds Steve Bannon while removing Director of National Intelligence, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

I have no comment at this point but WTF.

This is just incredibly stupid and irresponsible.

Dangerous, even.  Even people that voted for Trump should be yelling at the top of their lungs over this.
