Anybody else catch wind of the rumblings from Mueller's camp about the Barr summary? Conservatives were so quick to claim victory and vindication, if the full report comes out and is much more damaging to Trump than let on.... Needless to say, the drama isn't over.

Badsmerf, you pinned it exactly. The drama is never over as far is this democratic house is concerned. They let the wrong people take over and all the whining, kicking and screaming lefties will bring the drama. It's what they do best

Moderate democrats need to be the voice of reason and honestly assess what they have. Seems such a waste of time and energy. If the NY Times, the Washington Post and the loudest democratic voices in the senate want to push all their chips in on "there might be information to impeach or censure" then the darn well better be sure.

If they fight and lose it will be a beating they inflicted upon themselves

And Trump and the GOP are so drama-free.  Come on, man.

Is this an attempt to disprove something I said?

Try harder

Look, you want me to disprove your non-fact hyperbolic opinion about the Democrats being drama queens?  I don't think you're interested in facts or in proof.

He said the drama wasn't over and I could  not agree more.

Write a post to nothing because I am heading out for the weekend.  Sorry, you will have to wait until Sunday night late (that is if I decide to log on)

this reeks of me-tooism....whether the GOP is or is not has nothing to do with the democrats' behavior.

It's more like don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house.  I haven't seen any histrionics coming from the Dems (Schiff, Nadler, Pelosi, have been straight-laced and serious); it's a baseless accusation that is more applicable to the other side.

I think the drama would have ended had the full report been released. Now, we know there was evidence of collusion, but not enough to convict. The question is how much evidence was there. We also know he likely obstructed justice, but the case isn't being pursued.

Republicans could easily end these shenanigans by agreeing to release the report. I'm afraid, until that happens this will continue.

Everyone at this stage in politics tends to not be drama-free.  Although, in this case, wanting to see more than a four page summary written by someone who had already written a 19 page essay on why this investigation should not be happening and not trusting him to redact in good-faith, is not creating extra drama, it is doing their job.

The report will be released with minor redactions today. I think the last thing guys like Nadler and Schiff want is the report to be released free of redaction. In that case they can't keep complaining about the report not being fully released and I think that's the last thing they want. They wouldn't know what to do without that

They'd just move on. I wish the Republican base would just support the release so we have the information. As it stands now, Republicans in Congress have been protecting Trump for over 2 years. Let's see the report, Trump's taxes, and focus on things that matter. If there is nothing to hide, don't hide it.

What they'd do is focus on the contents of the report, that's the next phase regardless of the number of redactions.

The party of limited government sure seems eager to use government power to restrict access to the public.  Funny.

Do you understand why there are redactions?  The bolded part makes it seem like you don't.  It isn't because random republicans decide this shouldn't be there and that shouldn't be there so as to protect Trump.

The reasons are as follows:

1. Information that has been presented to a grand jury, which is subject to secrecy rules. This could conceivably cover a lot of material.

2. Material that intelligence officials fear could compromise sensitive sources and methods. This would include information from F.B.I. informants and foreign allies.

3. Information that could hamper other current investigations, including spinoffs of the Mueller inquiry. Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn and Manhattan are investigating the finances of the Trump inaugural committee and hush payments intended to cover up a sex scandal that threatened to upend Mr. Trump’s campaign.

4. Material that the Justice Department believes would unfairly infringe on the privacy and damage the reputations of “peripheral third parties.”

If anything, redactions are done more to protect those doing the investigating and aiding in the investigation.

So far it's looking like the full(ish) report is turning out about the same way as unpacking your own stuff after a move. A couple things are damaged, and you might eventually unbox something you forgot you had, but after the work of digging everything out, it's pretty much the same stuff.

U.S. News sums it up pretty well (so far, at least)... "Mueller Report Has Changed Few Minds". CNN still swears it's a "roadmap to impeachment", while NBC's day shift Holt/Hunt duo agree that so far the report is "falling with a thud for a lot of Democrats".

Without something damning, it's a dead end.  That appears to be the case.

Once top Democrats began to back away slowly, this is what I expected. I still think it's important for us to see the full report, but don't expect a smoking gun. 2 years ago democrats were hoping for the smoking gun, and it just didn't happen. Trump is still a slime ball for campaign violations and obstruction of justice, but the investigation want enough to prove criminal conspiracy with Russia. However, I do think they are lucky Russia didn't attempt to influence the Trump campaign more, because I don't believe they had the self control to say no.

I think obstruction is a bigger deal, because the basis of their conclusion that couldn't establish collusion is that the witnesses were lying, and it also appears that there is credible evidence of obstruction, and Mueller never believed he could indict the President, so he left it specifically to Congress.  It may not be politically beneficial for the Democrats to pursue this any further, but the notion that the Mueller report uncovered no wrong-doing should be put to bed.  I wish Mueller had the chutzpah to indict, and safe Congress of the ill-conceived procedures of impeachment.
