POTUS Donald Trump

But that's often how the justice system works. I'm satisfied that there were convictions. Unanimity is difficult to achieve on anything that is contested.

boy, the juror Fox interview is such a pure Trump homer, it's sad. I wonder if she was actually the one juror who held out on the other counts.

Response after the recent death toll adjustments from Puerto Rico

@NBCPolitics
19m19 minutes ago
Trump: "I think we did a fantastic job in Puerto Rico. We're still helping Puerto Rico. The governor is an excellent guy and he's very happy with the job we've done... I think most of the people in Puerto Rico really appreciate what we've done."

I listened to the more extended sound clip, he rambles about how it was more difficult to help, since it was on an island and things were in such bad shape prior to the hurricane.  It is possible that he mentioned it elsewhere, but no comment on loss of life just doubling-down that he did great.

I heard the old clip from when he was saying things were great because only 16 people died (which anyone at the time had to know that was way off).  Even if the 16 dead would have been accurate - it is still 16 dead people, you don't pat yourself on the back and joke as you throw out paper towels.

He really does have no soul.

He really does have no soul.

This sums it up for me. I will often disagree with policies of politicians that aren't in 'my arena' of thought, but I've never, ever disliked a president because I thought he was pure evil.

Everyone hear the hellfire and brimstone speech to the Evangelicals about the elections.

That **** show of a speech barely made the news, that's how far down the rabbit hole we are.

That's the reason he took away the teeth of the Johnson Amendment, so he could manipulate future elections...

He is pure scum of the earth.

I really have to think even faux news would turn on him if that happens.

Doubt it

Trump, 'I have nothing to hide, I did nothing wrong, but the American people aren't going to be allowed to know the results cause everyone knows it was a witch hunt.  Just take my word for it.'

In other news, he is on Sessions' behind again for not obstructing justice in the indictment of two GOP congressmen. Doesn't Session know he's not allowed to prosecute Republicans?

'"Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department," Trump tweeted. "Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff..."

The way you like an ex girlfriend after she punches your current girlfriend for cheating on you?

Yeah, I keep cautioning Mrs Ash - who gets a little excited when a new "hero" like Stormy Daniels or Michael Avenatti or Omarosa or Michael Cohen emerges and starts looking like "the one" who will bring down Trump - none of these people are doing anything except what they perceive to be in their own self-interest. Assume they are skunks too, given their willing assocation with Trump or his associates, and you won't be too far off. Certainly, appreciate what truths come out. But no one except the House of Representatives, and then the Senate, can get us out of this fascist predicament before 2020. Fellow fascists like Sessions do their things for their own reasons.

Eagerly awaiting Woodward’s book next week.

WH is already working to discredit the book.  As if a reporter like Woodward would just make stuff up. And is if anyone is going to own up to what was actually said.

Did you listen to the phone call between Trump and Woodward.  great example of how much of a childish nut job Trump is.

Another day, another piece of mud Trump will shake off with 35% of Americans. This presidency will go down in history as one of the worst ever. I'm amazed at how much of a fraud he really is. His lawyers don't want him to testify because they are sure he'll lie... Seriously. Can't make this up if you tried.

Woodward taped every interview, evidently.

This is amazing.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/05/opinion/trump-white-house-anonymous-resistance.html

Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president. But no one wanted to precipitate a constitutional crisis. So we will do what we can to steer the administration in the right direction until — one way or another — it’s over.

This is breathtaking. The book, and now this? Wow. This has to be the beginning of the end. I'm betting after the midterms republicans start distancing themselves. Trump hasn't been doing anything but losing lately.

the Child in Chief will just keep saying it's all made up. And his followers will believe him. And since none of these guys have the juevos to say anything on the record, it will result in nothing.

"even though I work for him, and support all his positions on tax cuts, conservative judges, "freedom", and lack of regulation, public lands, separation of church and state, I'm totally fighting against him......"

I remain....skeptical....about how much people really are fighting him.

Yes - not too different from the GOP leaders in the House and Senate who turn a blind eye and will only give a tepid criticism of Trump, because they want their tax cuts and judicial appointment, ignoring all the long term damage to our relationships with our allies and the environment etc. if it makes their wallet thicker today.

There is arrogance thinking that they can stop Trump when they decide it is absolutely necessary, but they might find that it will be too little too late and the checks and balances are too far compromised and Trump will be completely beyond their control

Needless to say there really needs to be a change in the balance of power in at least one of the houses at the midterms (think turning the Senate will be tough and won't feel good about the House until after the election).

On a different note--- who has something on Lindsey Graham?  He is Trump's number one cheerleader now.  I wonder what McCain thought of Lindsey's about face for Trump the last year.  He had a relatively small role at the funeral.

Graham was on CNN this early evening and was convincing with his opinions. I've lost a lot of respect for him with how he has championed the Trump administration. I hoped he would stand up a lot taller on egregious topics and hasn't. To me, he feels he can have more influence being close to Trump rather than his enemy. I honestly feel he shouldn't care what Trump thinks, and just do what is right.

This is cynical and really pretty speculative and not really based on sound-reasoning, but maybe Lindsey thinks he would be a good AG replacement for Mr. Sessions once he is fired after the midterms.  It would help explain the sucking up and the change in his position on the firing of Sessions.

It's not a bad take.  I think Lindsey thinks that he needs be in a position so that the president listens to his advice.   Similar to the anonymous collaborator and the others who vowed to protect the country from Trump.

I'm starting to like Sessions a little bit.

I can’t shake the feeling this is all a sham...that he and Sessions are creating the illusion of discord to give Sessions cover when he performs some act down the road that absolves Trump of his crimes.

“I don’t even like the President, but the constitution mandates I dismiss these charges.”
