POTUS Donald Trump

The tweets continue. And they continue to be embarrassing. And my RW friends continue to love him. I admit it. I don't understand.

He lies.

He's immature.

He is under investigation by the FBI.

He is proposing eliminating every program he can.

And they love him for it. Because he's not a democrat.

Yes, we are polarized. IMHO, Trump is beyond the pale. He is so boastful and fact-challenged that he can't be taken seriously by any unbiased observer. The overall ratings are in the toilet, but his backers must actually believe what he is saying.

President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, secretly worked for a Russian billionaire to advance the interests of Russian President Vladimir Putin a decade ago and proposed an ambitious political strategy to undermine anti-Russian opposition across former Soviet republics, The Associated Press has learned. The work appears to contradict assertions by the Trump administration and Manafort himself that he never worked for Russian interests.

Everything is normal, guys!  Nothing to see here!

Helpful resource for keeping track of the Russia connections.

Also this just dropped, Rep. Adam Schiff: There is now 'more than circumstantial evidence' of Trump-Russia collusion

Schiff seems like a smart guy.  I hope that isn't a Maddow moment there.

Dems have to play this carefully until there is a true smoking gun.  I lean  towards thinking there will be, if we're patient.

Was about a half mile away from Westminster in a cab heading to that bridge today when the attacks went down pure chaos all around, I hate to say it but one of my biggest worries afterwards was "****, Trump is going to use this to further fuel his racism and nationalism"

Irony. After all the hell they have Clinton for an extremely lengthy and transparent investigation.... they now have a corpse falling out of their closet. Problem is, the same people chanting lock her up won't give and credence to the current investigation.

Some of the more staunch supporters are actually saying Obama should be locked up because Trump has been under investigation and it proves that Obama tapped the phone.   I have also seen rationalization that who cares if he worked with Russia to get elected, because it saved us from Hilary.  They see nothing wrong with it.

I do think it is interesting that Comey said Hilary was under investigation at a time when protocol had traditionally dictated keeping it under wraps (and it was over something quickly discarded) and they were also looking into Trump'sties with Russia but felt no need to mention that.

It is sad how much of the GOP is willing to put their party over the country and just cover their eyes and ears and pretend nothing is going on as long as they get their agenda passed.

DaveW - glad you are OK.

Sure.  Even if there is substantial evidence of collusion, Trump's diehard supporters will claim  that his political circle acted without his knowledge.  If his campaign was smart, Trump would have plausible deniability--insulated from any criminal liability.

I wonder if the smart play for Democrats is not to support impeachment, but take advantage of the plausible deniability, and let the guy serve his term, hitching the Republicans to Trump's illegitimacy and incompetence.  (The alternative is Mike Pence or Paul Ryan, who might capably gut the federal government.  (why wouldn't that be their plan all along...)).

  Such a great statesman:

I guess, I can’t be doing so badly, because I’m president, and you’re not.

The Onion must be going out of business, because they cannot top the real thing.  His rationalization for how his lies are not lies is grade school level:

Sadly, I am not joking about this next statement - he is going to be mad the cover does not have his picture or name on it.  He will probably saying "failing Time  magazine - would have sold more copies with me on the cover.  Sad!"

"Failing Playboy - would have sold more copies with me as the centerfold."

Try to imagine the reaction from conservatives if Obama said something anything remotely close to "Because I'm the President, and you're not."

I mean, these people thought he was an arrogant a-hole because he put Dijon mustard on a cheeseburger.

I traveled with a colleague in Texas this week. He claims to be a libertarian... He also claims to be a numbers guy. Then he proceeds to tell me 2 million of the illegal immigrants are committing felonies and the people whom lose coverage under ahca will be covered under expanded Medicaid... When he then said ObamaCare was not negotiated by dems I slipped and said that is an ignorant opinion. Couldn't help myself at that point. Sigh. Also hates Clinton for no reason he could explain.

It still amazes me that these clowns are running the country. If the potential foreign policy consequences weren't so great, it would actually be quite enjoyable to watch this go down.

They complained for 7 years about Obamacare (which has obviously flaws) and the best they can come up with is this tire fire. What a joke.

It has become quite apparent that the GOP no longer has any idea how to govern.

Gee, what a surprise. You create an angry opposition party fueled largely on lies and half-truths, foster those negative emotions and continually ramp them up for a decade, and then have no idea how to perform in a leadership role when the time comes.

Shocking. Shocking, I say.
