How can we ever possibly fix this nation's racism (and other isms) with stuff like this?

57 percent

Share of Republicans who do not believe gay and lesbian people face a lot of discrimination in the U.S. Interestingly, more Republicans believed that Christians — who make up more than 70 percent of the population — face a lot of discrimination than believed that gays and lesbians, black Americans, immigrants and Muslims do. Lost all respect for Maddow. What a clown.

MSNBC and CNN are embarrassments these days.

NY Times is where everyone should be getting their political news these days.

There was nothing to see on the Maddow show. I sort of feel like the network pushed this one on her. Maybe MSNBC's ratings are in the tank.

The irony is that her ratings have doubled recently, and she claims that is because she stopped covering Trumps tweets and focused on the White House's actions.

I don't think MSNBC realized what kind of fervor they'd create by teasing the reveal on Twitter (they should have known).   Maddow's show played out much like it usually does, heavy on context and a bit light on original reporting (which is pretty standard for a cable show)--but given the reaction to her initial tweet, this was a very poor way to run the program.   Had she said at the outset that the tax return was just two-pages from one-year and is rather favorable to Trump, I doubt we'd see the backlash--but she hid the ball because she knew there wasn't a there-there.

I'm sure her ratings were crazy last night, but I bet they crater a bit tonight.  I hope she learns from it, because I find her authentic, and one of the few anchors intelligent enough to keep the moving parts of the Russia pseudoscandal straight.

(I'd like to also point out, that at least liberals react in disdain when their pet-media doesn't deliver on a promise.  What Maddow did is what Fox News does every night with every minuscule issue for years and years, and their viewership eats it up.)

Comparing NY Times to cable news is apples to oranges.    Further, we should be reading everything with a critical eye, and certainly not laud much less depend on any one source.

I am really taken aback why senator Graham is pushing this wiretapping topic so hard. We all know he is no fan of trump, I have to wonder if he has some inside information. If trump wasn't such a ❄ and kept bringing it up....

Also interesting to see what happens with this health care bill. White house seems to be distancing themselves from it now. I hope Ryan crashes and burns with this thing. Pretty much a slap in the face to a majority of Republican voters. Will it wake them up if it passes?

I like Maddow.  Of the obnoxious MSNBC hosts (and cable news in general) she is by far the most tolerable.  And I also give the left credit for criticizing her.

That said, this was a horrible, horrible blunder.  She just fed perfect ammunition to Trump and all of his lackeys.  It reinforced all the nonsense they've been spouting and came off as shoddy journalism to boot.  Ugh.

so, no art, no public radio, no public tv, no environmental protection, and no health care for the poor (and I believe large cuts to veterans' services).....less money for public education (the true secret to why other countries are "passing" us in education, they started to spend money on public schools!)....

this is the US people want?

Keep in mind, Trump's approval rating has stayed in the low 40s and high 30s.  He's incredibly unpopular.  And, while some mouth breathers will always stand by him, he doesn't have that much capital. The sane® GOP will abandon him fairly soon.

A budget that puts #AmericaFirst must make safety its no. 1 priority—without safety there can be no prosperity: http://45.wh.gov/NF9wr4

I actually think clean air and water factor health and prosperity as well, but I suppose that does not work as well when you are crafting your fear tactic strategy.

Spending more than the next 12 nations combined on the military wasn't enough?

cutting the coast guard makes us safer?

letting companies poison the air and water makes us safer?

Letting people discriminate against non-whites, or non-heteros, or non-christians makes us safer?

taking healthcare from poor children makes them safer?

huh.

I wouldn't necessarily bank on this. If the economy stays OK and he avoids a major external crisis, it will creep back up.

Concur. He's still got the people who voted for him, and R's are afraid to oppose him.

Dear Honorable Canadian Citizen TwinNorth49.

Please do not delight in our (USA) national tragedy and misery. Most of us do not deserve it.

Regards,

Mr. Bark Cornelius Lounge

I'm not delighting in it all, in fact I'm in a state between thorough disgust and utter disbelief on a daily basis.

I'm definitely not referring to good people such as yourself and most others around here, only the complete and utter baffoons who used this ass clown as their catalyst for change.

I understand they are way too dense to understand what they've actually done however.

My post was meant to be light hearted, but I am glad you still have faith in some of us.

Other than that I agree with everything you said. :)

Sometimes it is nice to be on the outside looking in, I know I wish that was the case for me this time around.

This is very well said, I hope you Canadians don't suffer the same fate, I get the feeling that a lot of people aren't exactly overly impressed with Trudeau so far. He seems to be a great guy and everything but have heard that Candians aren't exactly the hugest fans of his so far ad his approval ratings have taken a hit.

I just hope the idiot Canadians that exist (like they exist in every country) don't elect their version of Poutine Trump.

That's pretty typical of Canadian Prime Ministers after that period of time, usually doesn't indicate much more than the honeymoon period being over.

After so many years of Harper, Canadians won't be too eager to head down that path again, Trudeau has a lot of rope. Trump being President likely buffers Trudeau somewhat even, as most Canadians would be loathe to get anywhere near something like that. We do have our fair share of idiots though (looking at you Kevin O'Leary).

Good lord that budget.  I mean....jesus.

I've turned mean on Facebook. I can't do it anymore. I tried reasoning with various friends and family members who support the man but now I'm just calling them names. I'm done being polite about it; they're terrible people and I'm going to let them know it.

I honestly hope more than a few of them unfriend me. This isn't an ideological difference anymore, this has clearly become a white hat vs. black hat situation. They didn't listen to my measured, reasoned, factual arguments in the past, now they can see the pure contempt I feel for them.

Not to mention many of those who voted for him are just like him and would NEVER admit to making a mistake. Those types of people typically double down on their follies.

I think there should be a constitutional amendment to require the installation of mirrors in voting booths.

North Korea is behaving very badly. They have been "playing" the United States for years. China has done little to help!

I'm getting close. Especially my "christian" friends that somehow think this budget is cool and all....

this is 100% a hatred of a black man with a funny name as president, and of years of brainwashing that taxes are bad and government is evil.

People are literally defending cutting meals on wheels. People that claim to be followers of Christ.
