White Man's Hate, Reality TV, and Reality

It's scary. Very scary. But Trump is president. That is the truth, it is the law of the land. Nothing can change that.

 

I don't have a ground breaking statement to unleash or anything that is new to anyone, but I guess I have lost touch with the world, and our country.

 

The hate that is flying out there is astonishing. Any YouTube Video or Article I read that is against Trump, has a majority of comments from people that are racist, of a hate mongering nature or very ignorant/uneducated. It seems as if at least 33.3333% or our country are white racists, who held their tongue and suppressed those feelings until their White Knight came along.

 

I was born in the mid-70's, and I grew up as a poor white kid in the ghetto. Knowing the struggles, I always identified with the people from my neighborhood, but from an early age, I understood that I had a better chance to succeed than a kid my age, who lived next door, that was a person of another skin color. The oppression and baggage was obvious.

 

Is blue collar (poor) white neglect really that rampant in thought and belief in this country? Cripes, I certainly believe in social programs to give the unfortunate a leg up, and in my opinion, it can be  A LOT better, but the reality is you can go to a Community College and get tech degree within a couple years and do okay for yourself and only be in the hole 15K? With the career you get, that is quite manageable.

 

There are many holes in that last paragraph I wrote. having kids, no high school diploma, etc.

 

I know this is one of the biggest anchors of non-progress that holds us down and it is connected to a culture of people that don't have accessibility to education and because they are dumbed down, fall into a bad habit like watching reality Television and allowing their reality to be encompassed by it. It is frightening. Our education system sucks. It ****ing sucks. Trump was born of this.

 

This country has a lot more problems than this, and if we don't straighten this out we will have irreparable problems piled upon other irreparable problems created from this election.

 

I only put this out there to see if there were any voices that could be uplifting with an authentic take on things.

 

I need to a break from social media, It has no benefit right now. It is harmful.

I'm going to be a tad trite by throwing out there two sayings: 1 - keep your friends close and your enemies closer; 2 - better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

 

I 'unfriended' one person over this past several months, not for their beliefs but for posting political memes AD NAUSEAM. I want to know who thinks what and if ever an opportunity to say something effectual, I can. I try not to persuade or get into arguments because there is no good resolution when approaching someone with the attitude 'You are wrong and you must change.' As maddening as it is, I don't think it helps anything to remain ... aloof.

 

Another thing I do is refuse to use the term 'alt right.' Seriously, call it what it is ... white supremacy. Using the term 'alt right' only helps to further the legitimization and mainstreaming of something that should never, ever be legitimized or mainstreamed. It's white supremacy and it's evil at it's core. Look at it squarely and say 'NO!'

I'd caution using what people say on social media as any kind of accurate barometer of what's out there.  There are some stories out there about how these fringe movements have used some coding tricks to essentially put their message on auto-pilot.  Those comment boards are filled with trolls and a variety of other issues that just make their reliability to form opinions on the quantity of people out there pretty dubious.  

 

But yes, rural america feels forgotten.  They're independent people that want to be self-sustaining, there is racism in the mix, but mostly it's just contempt for being so frequently the butt of jokes, shamed by both sides, and largely forgotten by both sides.  

 

That's going to build resentment.
