What's next in baseball?

I generally agree but I think 4 will precede 3.

I would even further reshuffle:

1) Replay expansion

2) Expanded rosters

3) No DH

4) Automated balls/strikes

The first three are all pretty much already agreed upon at some level and will probably happen by the next CBA.  The last one is the diciest for happening in the next 10 years IMO.

No DH?

I like the expanded rosters - we have it in September, lets put more players on the bench, accommodate the growing bullpens and then limit September to 2 or 3 call ups.

The big change is something Neil Allen is advocating.  A consistent preparation of players from signing to majors.  Prepare them, measure their health, establish techniques and habits that make the transition to MLB easier.

Get the young players on TV - give them exposure like the NBA and NFL - the future is in marketing.

Mexico City?  Really, you know you would have to live there part of the year if you played there.

I like the automated strike zone idea.

I don't know the tech, but I imagine it could be implemented non-invasively and without any umpires losing their jobs. The home plate ump holds a clicker, and if the pitch passes through any part of the zone, the clicker vibrates. The ump calls a strike.

Perhaps something a little stronger than just a vibration, like an electric shock.

It's either that, or more of this :)
