Albers and Dean are what they are. Disaster plans. Their performance was about what you should expect from the pedigree.

There needs to be some sort of better way to describe reliever effectiveness. I am sure there is a double secret equation that teams use. Inherited runners scored should factor in it. Blown leads, blown ties are much more important than era. What percentage of the time is the reliever effective.

It would be a mistake to let Boshers go?

Not sure about that.  The Twins need to be in full rebuild mode, and this means that 29 year old Boshers, who actually pitcher pretty well for a dumpster dive acquisition and the A- grade is fitting within that context, has no place in the team because pitchers like Mason Melotakis, and even Cam Booser and Mike Theophanopoulos who have been moving way too slowly in the organization need to potentially have a chance to show whether they belong in the long term discussions.  They will be 26, 25, and 24 years old next season, thus they belong to the same age argument you make for Chargois ;)

The goal is to do one of these per day until the entire 40-man roster is complete. That should end with Miguel Sano sometime in early December.

I suspect that some (O'Rourke, Schafer, Wimmers) might not be on that roster when it is time for their name to be called :)

Yes.  The Twins should immediately prune half the pitching staff.  Keep the half they want to get a better look at.  Next year, prune anyone remaining who has not performed up to expectations.

Harsh but the Twins need a near complete turnover with the pitching staff and there's just no point in delaying the inevitable.

None of those guys are making the team out of Fort Myers. So you keep Boshers until they're ready. And frankly, if Boshers pitches like he did last year again next year, he has trade value. Maybe more than Abad, due to years of control. As I noted, Boshers outpitched guys who got multi-year deals for lots of cash -- relative to value -- so there's a reason to keep him, even if it's just to flip him.

Several teams have started DFAing several of their players from the 40 man roster. I assume the Twins will wait until Derek Falvey takes over to do that, unless someone Falvey wants them to claim comes up.

Yep, that was my thought too. Rob is GM in name only right now, I'm afraid.

Don't disagree with your sentiment. Also won't argue a couple of our arms, notably RP need quicker rising opportunities. But you still need a couple guys, like Boshers around to begin the season, then trade or release.

Cannot disagree with that A-.  He made himself just a tad more $ than when he used to server ice cream.

Good for him.

Can the Twins trade him for a decent prospect?  If yes, they should do it.  If no team values him that much, the Twins should neither, and let one of the kids (some of them will be 26 next season) take his spot, and non-tender him.

Bottom feeding should be no more.
