The last reliever on the market I had hopes the Twins would call is no longer available....

Sergio Romo signs a 1 year, $3 million deal with the LA Dodgers. Supposedly he took less money in order to pitch for the Dodgers.

And Chris Carter is now a Yankee.

Basically, do not touch Aaron Judge in your fantasy league this year. He's already got enough red flags to outfit a Chinese palace, and now in the 1B/RF/DH mix along with Judge will be Carter, Holliday, Hicks, Austin, and Bird. Could be rough for at bats there.

It will be interesting to see how many AB's Hicks gets this year.  Not many, I'm guessing.  He'll probably do a lot of stretching during the 7th inning, though.

Handshake deal in place to sell the Marlins for 1.6 Billion.  Damn that is a lot of money.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/02/marlins-sale-rumors-handshake-agreement.html

"...a New York-based real estate developer" ... "The hangup in the reported agreement for the time being is that the potential buyer does not have enough liquid assets to make the purchase, as the majority of his net worth is tied up in real estate investments."

This is gonna be Yuge! Bigly!

So not the Wilf family then....

No confirmation yet, but some significant worry inside the Cardinals org is the most recent confirmation I've seen.

No confirmation, but Jim Bowden reports that there is a partial tear, and surgery is likely. The article also said he's getting a second opinion. Either way, that's really tough news for Cardinals fans.

The San Diego Dad's have signed SP Jared Weaver to a 1 year, $3 million deal. This may be the only team in the league where his presence is viewed as an upgrade compared to what they have.

Pretty good place for a soft tossing flyball pitcher to make one last plea for usefulness.

I just hope if he somehow comes out of this season with a sub 3.50 ERA my favorite team isn't fooled next year in free agency.

Not exactly. Petco has not played near as well for flyball righties since the fences were changed. See: James Shields.

That's an interesting replacement for Ramos. I like this move for Washington.

Except they had one already that they traded for...Derek Norris, whose defense is actually considered quite solid - such that he graded out in some grading systems as a neutral value or even positive value catcher in spite of hitting under .200.

Yeah... Didn't realize that they traded for Norris. Now I don't like the move as much. Thought they had nothing in place after Ramos left.

Y'all have to remember, Norris was actually worse than Danny Santana with the bat last year (by OPS+ or Rbat per PA).  Even with positive defensive value and a positional adjustment, he was basically replacement level at B-Ref.

Now, he could bounce back, but I'm not sure I'd want to put all of my eggs in that basket quite yet.  At least not when a guy like Wieters is available at relatively modest cost.  I know there are rumblings about them trading Norris now, but I'd like to see those two split the playing time 50-50 in the early going, eventually looking to favor the hotter/healthier hand.
