Yeah ... and that's the age difference between you and Ash so ... you got it about right.

I don't watch anything with any regularity anymore. Not even Netflix series or whatnot. And I don't get premium channels so nothing on any of those. The only thing I watched regularly last year and really laughed at it was 'Life in Pieces.' Can't wait for season two. And the way they filmed it was great ... was 3 or 4 little related vignettes. Was just funny. And on all age/life levels. Was good. <shrug> We each have our own.

I've watched four pilots so far this new season and nothing has truly grabbed me. I'd say 'The Good Life' was the most ... unique? ... if that, but will likely go to the 'meh' pile next week along with the others. And I might watch the next episode of 'This is Us' mostly because it was rated so well ... I want to really know what it's about. If it's just another episode of presenting unrelated characters full of melodrama ... big pass.

Don't worry, in 20 years the network overlords will have implanted both sensory gratification and mainstream withdrawal chips in your brain so you will crave and feel like you enjoy the poorly written garbage.

I wanted to check it out but was busy so will have to do the On Demand thing. Any good?

Plenty of the typical baseball cliches, but in general, I think there's a lot of promise. It's not going to take on the Wire or Breaking Bad, but I do love the tie ins with MLB due to the partnership with Fox, which leads to very realistic scenery of the real PetCo Stadium clubhouse and the field for the game action.

so far, it's the only new show I will watch again.

I had to adjust my statement.  Along with Designated Survivor, I'm enjoying Lethal Weapon a lot.  Not only is the comedy good, but the serious parts are also very good.  A person can really feel the pain Riggs has when he thinks about his deceased wife and Murtaugh's serious moments, also very good.  It's a well done show.

I saw a couple of new shows recently. Modern takes on 'Time Tunnel' ... sort of. Not sure I'll keep up with them, but the pilots were semi-interesting. One was called 'Timeless' and the other 'Frequency.'

I saw Timeless.  I'll give it another look.

Wait, timeless was good? The unending previews looked so bad and predictable....

And Lethal Weapon? I would not have guessed that in a million years.

Huh. Well, if I do start watching more tv, at least I apparently have some options.

I didn't say it was good ... said it was interesting, but we'll see. I'm not really sure of either one of the 'time travel' shows, how it will work. Well, 'Timeless' is time travel ... good guys chasing bad guys through history as the bad guys try to change it and the good guys try to preserve it. But in the process of preserving it, it ends up changing a little so the good guy travelers come back to a slightly altered future. After one episode, not sure how altered or how, why ... if it's everything or just their own personal histories that get altered.

'Frequency' isn't really time travel, but the lead character living in the present somehow can talk to her father in the past on this ham radio. (Yeah, I know, contrived, they both are ... ) They are both cops ... he got killed in the past, on the job, while undercover and was labeled a dirty cop. She somehow talks to him in the past just days before he gets killed and she tells him how as she unearths some buried information on it. So, as you would expect, he manages not to get killed. Then you see a montage of her memories changing because her past changed as well as her present is now different. And she remembers both pasts. But then in her new past, her mother disappears; in her present they discover her body. So, the first episode ends where she finds her past self (before her mom disappears) on the ham radio and tells her to get the ham radio to her father, who is recovering in the hospital after not getting killed. Her father knows that he's somehow talking to his daughter in the future. Anyway ... not very good synopses, I don't make them sound at all interesting, but ... at the time I watched they held my interest. But as i said, I wouldn't yet call them 'good.' But interesting enough I'll likely tune in. If I remember when and what network they were on.

And I hadn't even heard of them ... they just happened to be on while i was home channel surfing.

Timeless is the one where the heroes include a woman and an African American going back in time and trying to fix things?

I think the modern day scientists in charge of of sending people back in time probably should have taken a social studies class or two to see if those would be two of the best choices for a discreet mission....

Going only by the web page for the show, it looks like they have a regular white guy with them, to make sure they don't try to marry each other or nothin'.

The woman is supposedly the best historian there is and the African American guy is the tech guy who helped build the machine so he knows how to work it.

Lol, I didn't even really think about it although the issue did arise in that first episode. But as jimmer said there were reasons why it was them.
