Arcia vs Quentin is a simplistic view.

I do not understand why Quentin even remains a discussion tangent. The man has batted .211 in the Mexican League in 2016. It's not like the Twins missed a trick by releasing him.

This season might get ugly.

Possibly the understatement of the year.  "might get ugly"....it was ugly back in April.  We have now fallen from the top of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.  We are beyond ugly.  Grotesque.  Unbearable.  Pick the adjective of your choice, but ugly is waaaaay to kind.

"The man has batted .211  has a .770 OPS in the Mexican League in 2016."

Corrected.

I didn't post anything incorrect. You are right that he did flash some power.

But you are still pining over some guy who had pedestrian numbers in a league that's probably around AA in talent these days.

I'm not pining -- I made it clear that he would not have led this team to the playoffs.

What I am stating is that this was the first mistake of many.  The moves made after their horrendous start have been panic moves.  They would no doubt have made fewer panic moves had they started the season better.

Keeping Arcia solely because he was out of options was not a bright move.  Of the two of them, Quentin was the one who was ready to play.  Arcia is now playing on his 4th team this year, which must be approaching an MLB record.

The Twins have been ugly all season. And while I'd much rather see them win, at least we'll end up with the top draft pick. Or No. 2, along with plenty of money to spend on picks.

The hope is that the new POBO will use those picks, and that money, wisely.

It's good to know that they have a chance to get a player which may or may not be good in another four to five years.  Viva la 2020!  :P

I'd argue that signing Quentin at all was a mistake.  They had their aging vet already in Ryan Sweeney.  Sign one or the other, not both was my opinion.  Let the kids play, Arcia included.

You rip Arcia for being on his 4th team of the season, but keep dwelling on a guy that isn't even in the league at all.  Interesting.  To each his own, I suppose.

Yeah, I get that. I'm tired of the losing. I really wanted a winning team this year.

But I also believe the Twins should have tanked more; waited to sign free agents instead of the half-hearted approach they made a couple of years ago; and been more aggressive in signing younger players and draft picks.

So, while losing bad sucks and I would much rather they win games, even now, at least we can hang our hat on the idea that they'll get a player who can help for several years.

Or at least I can hope.

We'll see what happens.  At this point all we know is the moves a lot of us thought were bizarre didn't work out.

My opinion is that the pitching staff is thin enough to where keeping Santana is important.  The holes already at pitcher are bigger than the hole currently at catcher.  Trading Santana would make the pitching problem even worse.
