Whether you like Drake's music or not, he's probably the most well known right now.....As for Rush, let's just say that their appeal is not universal, though I like their music.....there are days I love Arcade Fire, then I hear the same sound over and over, and think "this is a BIT much".

Having just looked up Canadian rock band lists on line, I'm not sure who my favourite* would be.

Of the soloists, I think I only have owned Alanis Morrissette music.....I hear a lot of recent Bieber stuff when my 19 year old has control over the car music, he knows how to do hooks. Neil Young is probably the best, most importanat, along with Joni Mitchell. I do like Dianna Krall....

* I believe that is the correct spelling for this topic.

I'm not a big Rush fan either.  I can't get past Geddy Lee's voice for some reason.  As a music lover, I appreciate them for what they are and they are fantastic musicians.

Neil Young is a constant on the turntable or Spotify when he still had his music streaming.

First of all, the polar bears all stopped looking for Seal after he and Heidi Klum divorced.  They, like many, are now focused entirely on Heidi Klum and are watching America's Got Talent every night that is on.  Apparently, polar bears have a good eye for "talent".

My sock drawer really could use a good sorting...

Unfortunately I'll be at a wedding, so that won't happen either.   :)

You will be missed snydes. Once you sort your socks, watch paint dry, and get that hot bed of asphalt delivered to your house, there will be a game thread going on!

And that final concert being televised over the Olympics by the CBC is a pure class act all around.

Commercial free no less. 12 million people tuned in, that's ridiculous in a country this size. It ranks as the second highest broadcast audience in Canadian history, behind the 2010 Olympic Men's Gold Medal hockey game...........that's crazy.

I was at their last show in Winnipeg, I cried. I watched their last show on TV, I cried. This is the band of my youth, the soundtrack of my life. They are uniquely Canadian, but without intention, that's their appeal and Gord Downie's brilliance.

Thanks RB!

In all honesty, all of those things will likely be preferred to the wedding, and it's not even mine.

Neil Young not withstanding, as a general rule Canadians favourite bands are typically not the ones that popular outside the border.

Drake is pretty popular but for a certain generation he'll always have that Degrassi Jr. High thing hanging over is head........Oh Jimmy!

Bill Barilko disappeared that summer
He was on a fishing trip
The last goal he ever scored
Won the Leafs the cup
They didn't win another till nineteen sixty two
The year he was discovered
I stole this from a hockey card
I keeped tucked up under

My fifty-mission cap
I worked it in
I worked it in to look like that

Secondly, no mention of Nickelback or, for us older gents, Loverboy?  Blasphemy!
