New Pohlad Interview with Sid Hartman

Dear Jim Pohlad,

There is still plenty of time for another Oswaldo Arcia type player to be given away while they try to straighten everything out.

There is still time for Trevor Plouffe to be traded for a Stephen Pryor type return.

Things can certainly get worse.

Hire a President of Baseball Operations from outside the organization to prevent further immediate damage and let the new President make the determination on Terry's Fate after due diligence.

Sincerely,

Riverbrian

From that article:

“I think he’s doing a great job,” Pohlad said recently when asked about Molitor’s season. “Does that sound stupid to say that since we have the worst record in baseball?"

At least it seems to have a grip on how he sounds...

I am convinced that Pohlad is part of the problem here.  He's got to sell to someone who cares.

Problem is:will Jim Pohlad do whatever nessisary for the Twins to succeed? My biggest critism is that the Pohlads operation a country club organization where the hierarchy is re-arranged yet not fired (see Ron Gardenhire). Even if Terry Ryan goes we pretty much know that either Gardenhire or Rob Antony will be the new GM. And if Gardy doesn't get the GM job he will probably be re-hired as the manager of the Twins. Jim needs to realize in order for the Twins to be relevant, he needs an outside GM and so on to truly have any positive results. Face it the "Twins Way" is more of of a failure than a success.

If Gardy is brought back as manager or GM then this Twins fan since the early 1980s is vamoose. What an insult to the fans putting Gardy in a leadership role would be.

Here's my bright moment from that interview:

“Well, like anybody, and maybe jumped the gun saying that about Paul, I mean we have to figure out what we’re doing wrong, what we’re doing wrong in the system,” Pohlad said. “If that points to the need to change personnel, I guess I would have to say we’d look at everything. But there has been no identification of anything like that. We’re beginning to discuss the process of how we examine doing things throughout our system."

Whatever players that have been put on the field have underachieved and have made waaaayyyy too many dumb baseball choices (base running, bunting among more) and THAT to me falls on the manager and coaches.

Twins have been totally unprepared and it has been a TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE!!!!!

1) Ryan made comments a month or so ago concerning a lack of job security and how it was up to him to prove to ownership that he was the man for the job.

2) This is the most vocal Pohlad has ever been. And he certainly didn't offer any endorsement, glowing or otherwise, in regard to Ryan.

3) The back peddling on Molitor is interesting. To me, an obvious "well, a new GM may not see it the same way" moment.

4) Examine the entire organizational structure is also telling. The Twins usually keep things close to the vest. I find this to be telling. But you have to examine, study, research, etc. Foolish to think the first week of July you would just fire everyone in charge of everything from TR on down. Majors and minors, you still have a season to finish.

But it sure appears to me changes are coming to this team
