Article: Twins Promote Jose Berrios

Recommended Posts

So, Polanco up, Ervin to the DL -- that still means another guy needs to be dropped from the 25-man to add Berrios.  I guess not until after the game tonight.  Pretty much can only be O'Rourke or Tonkin, right?

Pretty sure Tonkin would have to go through waivers soooo, O'Rourke, Meyer(yes I know he just got here) Duffey or another DL move???

Tonkin would definitely have to go through waivers, but I don't think the Twins would be particularly bothered by that, at this point (nor should they be, if they feel like they can add a better pitcher).

Could be Duffey, if Berrios is essentially taking the place of the DL'ed Ervin Santana.  Although Milone staying in the rotation isn't ideal...

I have been heavily in favor of Duffey.   He had a great year last year in the miniors, a great year last year in the majors, a great start to the minors and was doing just fine until getting hit by that batted ball.    That all said, with Meyer pitching so well and for who knows how long I would really like to see him in the rotation.    Does anyone know Duffey's status?   Maybe it is Gibson and Santana to DL and we have Nolasco, Hughes, Milone, Meyer and Berrios.    Maybe they go to a 6 man rotation.    Too bad Buxton and Kepler got sent down.   Remember 2011 where a bad AAA team got promoted to the big leagues because of injuries.   It was hard to see much light at the end of that tunnel,.    If we see a team of Kepler, Buxton, Arica, Rosario, Sano, Polanco, Meyer, Duffey, May, Berrios in place by the end of the year I there will be plenty of light regardless of the record.

Made it with 30 days to spare!    His goal was to be in the majors when he was 21.    I am so proud of him.

I think no goal is too lofty for this young man. Am very excited about this, while still trying to manage expectations. It's a difficult middle way.

See that Santana looks to be headed to DL. In the long run, I suggest: trade Milone for whatever they can get for him or long relief. Gibson to long relief (if they can trade Milone) until he can get his mojo back. Duffey to Rochester. Milone will probably still have some good days, but I think we've seen his ceiling and it ain't high enough to be on this team much longer.

Can we have a roatation of Berrios, May, Meyer, Duffy and Gibson for the month of May and see what the future might look like? Call up Chargois to take May's bullpen spot.

So you want to get rid of the Twins' best 2 starters so far.  That's the key to winning...
