GOT season six (spoilers galore)

Anyone watch the first episode?  I thought it was ok but they are really milking the episodes.  Not much really happened, except for the last scene with Melisandre.  Also looks like the show is going to be pretty much done with any Dorne story lines.  It was nice to see Varys and Tyrion together.

I think the long wait between seasons always leads to what appears to be an unclimatic first episode; but each episode of GoT  (esp. early in the season) delivers the plot in piecemeal.   There was some (temporary) resolution with Sansa, and much of the lingering threads from last season are picked up and moved forward though in unrevealing ways.  I'm looking forward to rest of the season, for sure.

Melisendre's situation will be very interesting but likely bled out over the season is my guess.

Painfully, I had this thought too.  I just hope it isn't sporadic scenes with extended absences from many episodes.  I'd rather the (Snow)/Melisendre/Davos story get stretched out in terms of time and complexity, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Show Davos is such a strong character, I love every scene he is in, but I'm guessing what we all know will happen will wait until midseason and then we will see a very large role for these characters as the season ramps up at the end.

So, yeah, lots of short check ins is my guess also.

Well just because they drag it on 4-5 episodes doesn't mean huge chunks of time are passing.  I know they typically try to show similar jumps in time, but you wouldn't have to.

I also think this is a bit more of a unique resurrection than your average Thoros of Myr attempt.  But it's certainly going to happen.

See, it's going to happen but how? Some people on the internet think Jon will be resurrected in his funeral pyre and not by the Red Woman - which will show the world that he is Targaryian.  (One of the old Targaryian kings thought fire would resurrect him.  He was wrong but it's in the books somewhere).  So Mellasandre's faith might take a couple more hits this season.

That's an interesting take, I hadn't considered that.  For me I always felt Melisandre would have a role, the two became pretty intertwined in the books and I thought the show reinforced that feeling last year.

If that theory is right, what is Melisandre's role to play in this then in your opinion?  It seems she's important in some major facet to the story.

It seems to me that the Red God and the Targaryans are somewhat intertwined.  I'd think Melisarndra would play a key role if Jon Snow really is Reagar's child. Honestly though, the feeling I get is that she's having a crisis of faith, so something big has to happen if she plays a key role going forward.

Glad they didn't stretch it out.  A few deaths and some renewed beginnings, a good episode.

Agreed, I thought they may bleed it out another week but now we get to see how he returned.  (In terms of personality, etc.)

Euron is set up now as a threat from the Iron Islands and we have Roose, the Carstarks, Manderleys, and Umbers setting up as a northern alliance vs. John, Sansa, Brienne, the Wildlings, and the rest of the North.  I wonder if we'll get to see the Manderleys flip sides or the fall out with the Freys?

Really solid second episode.

Apparently, the writers found the best weapon to get around story lines they don't like - the dagger!

Fun episode - I enjoyed the wildlings taking Castle Black and Davos' dark humor.  I never really liked the idea (hinted at in the books) that Tyrion is a Targaryian but I think that episode sealed it.

And, eventually, FrankenMountain is going to be let loose.  That'll be so much fun to see.

I thought the books hinted that Tyrion was Tywin's only true son and that Jaime and Cercie were not his.

I feel like that episode played out the way most of us thought it would - the Khalasaar is all in one place to rally around Dany, Rickon was captured and is now in Ramsay's clutches, Jon died and therefore ended his watch so he abandoned the LC position - pretty much all predictions that were generally agreed were going to be the direction of the show.

Interesting that Bran can interact with that past, I have to imagine that tidbit was important.

The Tower of Joy thing pissed me off.  I should have known they wouldn't reveal who was in the Tower in that episode but, no, I was all set to see Baby Jon.

Oh well, good episode.

Yeah, I got myself all hyped about the big reveal too.  The sword fight with Arthur Dayne was incredibly choreographed.  I'm looking forward to watching that part again just to appreciate how amazing that guy was with two swords.

I was glad they mentioned it was Howland Reed as well, I'm hoping that still has a role to play.  (As I think it will in the books)

So, yeah, that was a bit of a let down.  But I think the full picture of Jon Snow is going to be a season long unveiling.  I was wrong that they'd bleed out the resurrection, but I think they may bleed out his full role as Azor Ahai, the song of ice and fire, the Prince that was Promised are all to come this year.

Pink letter was Ramsay as I always expected. Vale joins the wildlings and Sansa's northern alliance and Dany has the whole Khalasaar at her disposal.

Solid episode, pieces are really moving! (Refreshing for this weary book reader)
