Article: Twins Minor League Leaderboard (through April 23)

Recommended Posts

Just over two weeks into the season. It’s still too early to make any grand statements about the players in the 2016 season, but some names are moving to the top in a variety of categories.

When it comes to pitching, there are a bunch of very impressive showings, both from starters and out of the bullpen. When it comes to offense, big results have been quite limited to this point. However, it is a long season, or it’s going to be a long season.Stephen Gonsalves was named the Twins Minor League Player of the Week. "Gonsalves made the start Tuesday night vs. Jupiter, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits in 7.0 innings pitched, with one walk and eight strikeouts, earning the win... Gonsalves has made three starts for the Miracle this season, going 1-1, 1.89 ERA (19.0 IP, 4 ER) with four walks and 18 strikeouts"

I'm sure those offensive numbers would look better if Kepler and Polanco had spent the whole season in the minors, but without them, yikes. Basically just Wade and Gordon are having good years so far.

The best part of this leaderboard is probably Kohl Stewart leading the org. with 10.9 K/9. Let's hope he can keep that up.

With Meyer back starting we have a ton of pitching prospects ready or almost ready to contribute especially if you consider May. Ryan is going to have to start clearing space for the higher upside arms and that's starts with milone. If Gibson continues to struggle will be interesting to see his future. Is he really better long term than may Duffy berrios and Meyer and in the more distant future Stewart gonsalves and jay? The twins suddenly have a surplus of pitching in the organization. Will be interested to see who they decide to stick with. (P.s. still wish he had chi Wei lol

First off, thanks for putting the names with the pics. I had asked for that like a year ago and it's always so helpful.

Whats impressive is Wade's isoD. Not spectacular but respectable especially for someone whose bat is so hot.

Those numbers for the pitchers are sexy! Geez. Thats something to be excited about.

Also surprised to see Wheeler's k/9 tick up at the start of the season here. I wonder where that will be in another month.
