Incorrect author of re-posted articles in forums

Recommended Posts

It seems that when an administrator promotes/re-posts someone else's blog post (not sure the exact process, I am not an admin :) ), the correct original author is shown on the front page and article page, but in the forum view, it credits only the administrator and not the original author.

See for example Seth's recent promotion of a Jesse Lund piece.  Article view, correctly credited to Jesse Lund:

Forum view, incorrectly credited to Seth with no mention of Jesse (until someone thanks him in the comments):

Not sure if this can be fixed, but it is very confusing for folks like me who access the site directly through the forums, I am never quite sure who the original author is.

It's not a glitch in the system, it's a 'glitch' with the administrator who posts it forgetting a step in the process in order to credit the correct author. Once published, they can go in and correct it in the front page article, but they can't change it in the article thread in the forum. And yes, it's confusing and unfortunate that the 'real' author doesn't get the byline notice in the threads when this happens. Sure, it gets mentioned in the comments, but not where it should be. However ... I wonder if perhaps someone could go in, and put an edit line in the body of the article to give the correct credit, if not the posting credit? Brock?

Please note that when I saw this I added a line at the top to credit the true author. That was not a perfect fix, but it was all that I could figure out that I could do.
