Korean Slugger Thread

After the news of the Twins winning the bidding an article called "Twins With Winning Bid On Korean Slugger" was posted to the homepage and people started posting comments to it.  After a while the comments were deleted maybe and people have been posting to an old thread to discuss this.  Usually I have seen when big news like this happens Twins Daily will shut down a side thread and push comments to the main article thread.  Is something broken?  Thanks!

Yes, sort of. The article that came out got merged with the thread that was already started in the Other Baseball forum. I don't understand exactly what happens from a technical standpoint, but when an article gets merged with a regular thread, it breaks the comments on the front page so the article and article thread are no longer linked, so you can no longer comment on the article from the front page. But you can still comment no the article from the thread that is in the Twins Talk forum. Sorry about that ... it happens occasionally and while it's not the best thing to have happen on such a big news story, we're only human. And after I've said all this, I'm not even sure I've explained it the best. Brock might be able to give a better explanation as he understands the technicalities better.

When an article comes out, you will see it on the front page and you will also see it in the forums as a thread with the title the same as on the front page but preceded by the word 'Article.' When it's not 'broken' the comments are linked so that those who comment on the article only from the front page can see the comments made from the forums, and vice versa. By having these comments linked like that links the community. But, as explained above, somethings things happen like it did today and the comments on the front page are broken.
