Rosenthal's latest

I've stated it here. There's no way I could find it on my time line again as I have no idea who even posted it.

You've stated your impression of what he said, unless you're suggesting Rosenthal was quoted as saying "I was trying to make mildly racist remarks"

I can't find anything of the sort on the issue and I'm having a lot of difficulty swallowing this perception of his article.

Nowhere can I find him doubling down on a notion that wasn't even in his original article.  Why he would go out in interviews and say "minorities aren't smart enough for Ivy League schools" seems...implausible.

That's not what I've said whatsoever. I've said his statements came off as minorities not being smart enough for Ivy League, but I never once said that was a quote or his true intent. He's just dancing a dangerous dance.

The minority issue in baseball in early October is a timely thing to get page clicks until we fill all the jobs out there and see 3-4 minority hires and suddenly Fredi Gonzalez doesn't stand alone.

This has little to nothing to do with sabermetrics. Sabermetrics and minority hirings have nothing to do with one another.

Ben, you fired right off the bat that he was implying minorities weren't smart enough for Ivy League schools, Dave pointed out that he said nothing of the sort, and you said in subsequent remarks he made it clear that he was making that implication.

So which is it?  This version of what you're saying doesn't jive with that.

Pointing out that there aren't a lot of Ivy League statisticians that are minorities is not saying they aren't smart enough.  It's just pointing out that there is even less diversity in that field of candidates than an already largely white group of candidates.  Pointing out a fact doesn't mean you're making a value judgement, it's just pointing out an unpleasant fact.

He doesn't imply that at all. Or any weird variation of that.

Nor can I find any evidence that he went out and made sure people understood that he was saying minorities aren't smart enough to be GMs (which you said he did on radio interviews).

When you find where I said that, I'll gladly retract it.

Your arguments in this thread are what I'm saying, so I'm not sure what the heck you're fighting out, but I'm going to bow out because I've seen too many of these where you attempt to bait someone until they flip, and I'm not going to give you that. Thanks, though.

I'm not trying to make you flip, I'm asking for help finding comments from him that support whatever the hell it is you are arguing he said.

Frankly, I seriously have no idea what you're talking about. I read the first page of the thread and now these responses and I am totally lost. They don't seem to jive at all.
