Watching the rain delay in game 6 - FS1 has assembled a team of A-Rod, Pete Rose, Frank Thomas, CJ Nitkowski, and a sports guy.

Well, damn, they are great! Pete Rose is funny, old-school, A-Rod is intelligent, deferring to the players in the game, Big Hurt is very keen in the analysis. Surprising.

I like A-Rod in the booth: there, I said it.

omg ... what a finish!

A-Rod confirmed what I think we all saw.  The ump robbed Revere on Strike 2, clearly a foot outside.  Why didn't FS1 present the evidence of that ridiculous call in real time? Game changer- Lil' Ben was forced to swing at an unhittable pitch on Strike 3, with one out and the tying and winning runs in scoring position.

As someone who is staunchily in favor of robot umps:

Ben Revere 'controversial strike'

And this was likely the first and last time I would ever use A-Rod as the source leading to the definitive source. But it was definitive.

That picture you posted shows that images from the pitcher's point of view can be deceiving.  Did you see the overhead video?  Huge amount of space between the outside of the plate, from front to back, on where the ball passed the zone. It was clearly a ball- by a mile.

The robot would have caught it and called it a ball, which is what it was.

I had a DVR malfunction and missed everything after the rain delay. Stupid remote control thingee!

Anyway, congrats KC I guess.

I know how you feel.

Anyway, Hosmer hit a liner into the right field corner, and Bautista's throw back to the infield was a lazy, one-bounce, mid-season lob into second base, instead of a hard throw to the cutoff man. Third base coach Jirshele, our hero from Game 7 last year, waved home Cain from first base, and that was the winning run. The play wasn't close but still a gutsy wave home. (KC also hit into a double play with bases loaded in that inning iirc).

Bottom of 9th, Wade Davis allowed the first two Blue Jays to get on base and steal two bases, but he buckled down for the save.

I saw the overhead too and was surprised it was outside. It looked over the plate. But it was clearly too high to be a strike for Revere. Otherwise good ball-strike calling and great game.

Yep, very entertaining and the best team won.

But I'm still wondering why FS1 bothered to replay Revere's pitch sequence during and after his AB, and never mentioned the possibility of the 2nd strike being a ball.  And where was "FoxTrax"?

Feel free to show the overhead picture

It's pretty easy to find and pretty clearly a bad call too. But with nobody out and a guy at third, it takes more than one bad strike to waste that chance.

Agreed.  But it was the critical call in the AB.  Instead of the countf going to 3-1, with a count heavy in the batter's favor, it became 2-2, forcing a defensive swing on an unhittable pitch from Davis for strike 3.

I thought the same thing. Rose dingle handedly lead me to turn it off. Hell, he made Arod look alright.

(Thomas is really, really good though)

And I hate to say this, but A-Rod was inexperienced but not without broadcasting talent.

He sounded like he had potential to be halfway decent at a gig like this in his retirement. Of course any employer would have to weigh that against the potential of the audience to relexively anger-vomit upon seeing him on their TV.

What I take fom the ALCS:

Bullpens are important, cannot be built "easily" or "cheaply" as I often read, and can cover up for a lot of other weaknesses.

Leave May in the pen, add a couple arms a good or better, and hope a couple of the minor league arms graduate to the big league pen in 2016.

They already employ Joe Buck and Pete Rose. What more damage can Rodriguez do?

Bautista's throw to 2B--was correct. Cain's continuation home would not have been expected--but Hosmer to 2B is expected.  If the throw goes to 1st--Hosmer makes 2B, Cain is held at 3B, and both score on Morales's single!  Score KC 5  Tor 3

For the record, I believe the called strike on Revere--was correct!

If you're talking about the behind the plate view, that isn't nearly as damning as people are making it out to be. I scourrd the web last nght and couldnt find a single truly overhead shot (which would be much more definitive. Honestly, that photo tells you more about how inaccurate PitchF/X is.

That pitch was most likely a ball, but it was a lot closer than PitchF/X and fans are making it out to be
