I haven't seen a single Twins game on TV at my house because of the cable issue, which is sad because it's the only sport I really want to watch.  But then again, I really don't want to spend the $ for one channel.  MLBNetwork would be ideal but that isn't an option...

Yup, it's like they don't want us to watch.

btw, thrylos, around 50% of the Twin cities has cable.....lots of cord cutting, lots of people that don't have it for money reasons.

If we are going to subsidize billionaires and millionaires, they should return the favor and let us actually watch the games.

I understand that there are workarounds but that doesn't change the fact that it's ridiculous they expect you to need to use those or have a special subscription. As benefactors of their anti-trust position, I feel MLB should be required to broadcast these games in their local market. Kind of like the NFL does for cable games, if nothing else. Yes, I know their anti-trust thing is different than MLBs.

Maybe ABC, CBS, NBC and regular Fox decided they'd rather show football, other sports, or their fall premiere shows than a sport that seems to get less and less popular to the TV watching public? Wouldn't they have to buy the rights to the games?

I'd like to see free local postseason broadcasts too, but I'm not sure that was the complaint of this thread. Do we have TD posters in Houston and KC?

I think 2006 was the last I remember the Twins having a free local postseason broadcast -- the games were on ESPN and simulcast by the local ABC affiliate.  (2010 was the last year for weekly free regular season Twins broadcasts.)  Of course, if we'd advance to the World Series, they'd be on free TV.  :)

It would be easy for the FS1 games to be simulcast on the local FOX affiliates, I'd think.  MLB Network and TBS, not so much.

Houston has blown a 6-2 lead in the top of the 8th, KC still batting.

On the TV thing...the problem is that over-the-air broadcast platforms don't want to pay for playoff baseball.

We're lucky cable picked them up, or we'd not be able to watch at all without literally paying for it.

I understand not wanting to pay for cable/satellite, but then don't complain about not being able to watch cable/satellite.

Actually, "literally paying for it" in the form of a full postseason package of MLB.TV would be nice.  And wouldn't be nearly as expensive as a hypothetical blackout-free regular season package.

it's a cruel game :-)  Funny part was one of the announcers said that shouldn't have been an error.

The Error stat just isn't the sabrmetric stat everyone wishes it was. Call it a hit, call it an error, it can still be a play that another player (or the same player on another day) makes. I don't worry about the official scorer's call on that.

Well I have directTv, I just missed a few games because where I live they were only shown on mlbnetwork, not fs1 or any other channel. Apparently thats not gonna be an issue anymore but I still think its weird to have one league on tbs and the other, well wherever they end up. Especially when "wherever" is sometimes a channel that even people with cable, directTv, etc dont get.

Seems to be an oddity with DirecTV.  Looks like their "Entertainment" package includes FS1, but they don't include MLB until one step further ("Choice" package).  I think most systems include the two channels in the same bundles...?

yeah, I get that.  I am obviously not a fan of the error/fielding % stat for many reasons, one because of plays just like that one where some might think it was a single (like one of the guys in the booth) and others think other-wise.  Another scorer could have agreed with the guy in the booth.

It was ruled an E-6 as it should have been.

Cost is only a fraction of my reason for not having cable. The big reason being that I don't want the 10,000 other shows I'd have to pay for at the same time.

I just find it to be a strange arrangement. I mentioned the local broadcasts before (which would not affect this year at all) because it seems like a reasonable midway point. I'd also love to rant about the scheduling of post-season game timeslots to anybody listening. Or did they fix that already? I guess I don't know because I don't have cable.

Let me, you know, buy it. I'm willing to watch a stream of a national broadcast. If MLB has to send some of the money to cable owners, that's part of their deal.

As for not complaining.....our tax dollars literally fund hundreds of millions of dollars for each team, every 20 years or so, so ya, I think it should be available other than 1 way. YMMV, I'm ok with that.
