It's weird... That home run was one of those moments in life where I remember where I was when it was hit.

At a friends house in Holt Minnesota... Population 8

I was sober enough to remember it and yet not enough to drive back home to Thief River Falls.

Like a responsible young man... I stayed out of decent judgement. I would have probably been on my way home otherwise when it happened.

All I could think was... Did that just a happen? A guy with no legs just won a world series game with a pinch hit home run.

I took a long look at the bottle of jack like it was playing tricks on me.

Prompted me to watch the entire at-bat again on YouTube tonight. Seven minutes of riveting baseball - a high level of play on nearly every pitch, including a snap throw from catcher to first (shades of Laudner in 87). I hated the Dodgers then, still basically do, but what a game, what an outcome.

Other Big Moments that I remember where I was.

Hrbek's Grand Slam against the Cardinals in Game 6 1987: Friends house again... I remember this one because as soon as it left the park I turned away from the TV to face everybody and I did the exact thing with my arms that Kent Hrbek did... I turned away and I had no idea that Hrbek was copying me.

Jack Morris Game 7 in 1991: I was at my cheap apartment in Grand Forks watching with my wife. I could barely take it. I kept moving around the apartment to find a lucky chair or spot. It was about the 7th inning when my wife yelled at me to JUST STOP... FIND A SPOT AND STAY THERE. I think I was sitting on her lap when Gene Larkin drove in the game winner. I told her she was my lucky spot. She couldn't respond because she couldn't breath.

Hrbeks grand slam, in the car on about a 5 inch black and white TV, or the radio if the reception wasn't coming in for us at the time.  We were in between a wedding and the reception of Twins season ticket holders, my dad had been warning them all summer they would be playing game 6 that day, I think they even moved the time of the wedding time up assuming a night game.  A lot of car horns went off for that one.

I remember we were almost late for my sister's confirmation because we were watching the end of the 1980 gold medal game against Finland at my grandparents.  The championship game was actually scheduled for a Sunday morning - doubt that would happen now.  A lot of people were walking into the church at the last minute.  I think it was an early afternoon service.

As much as people rightfully remember the US-USSR game, the championship game was not a bit of a nail-biter at times as well.

I'm a litlte late with this- no more Tigers for the year.  But I came across this one yesterday, and just had to share.  Watching a replay of the Twinks/Tigers (1st Buxton HR and Sano triple) and was struck by the terrific banter between ex-Tigers Gibson and Rod Allen- where Rod was talking about his time in Japan.  I had no idea he was famous for it!!  Try to watch this, but don't be sipping your lunchtime milk carton at the same time...

It's dangerous but I love Rosario's aggressiveness.

The guy is going to get burned on occasion but I give him high marks for base running.

Forcing it when it's just not there is the way to the doghouse. But putting the other team in the position of having to make the perfect play? Most often that's just good baseball.

I remember where I was for the Al Michaels "Do you believe in Miracles call"

My House... I was 15 and sitting at the kitchen counter... On a Stool... Watching on a black and white. I was also trying to untangle the phone cord as I was shouting to my friend. "Turn the game on... The U.S. Is gonna win!!!"
