Dozier forgot how many outs there were, was running on a fly ball with one out, got doubled off first.

That's beautiful.

Isn't an out reminder one of the limited responsibilities of the first base coach?

You're probably correct, so we can split the responsibility for the mental error, but I'm still going to blame Dozier more. At this level players should be past mental mistakes that large. Heck, I play church-league softball, and I always know how many outs there are regardless if a coach tells me.

I agree, there's no excuse for Dozier not knowing the outs. I was just using the opportunity to take a shot at the on-field management.

I always wondered why no one has tried to railroad the pitcher when he's covering the plate instead of the catcher. I get the old "he'll throw at your head" argument, but it's not like players haven't done other things to piss off the other team before.

I played for a manager that would pull you out of the game if you made an error like that. maybe we should have carroll slide over to SS and put Lexi in at 2b. think maybe Dozier and the rest of the guys would pay attention while running the bases the rest of the game?

It is the players job to perform on the field. It is the mangers job to motivate that performance. Players will perform at the level that is expected of them. I've always been in Gardy's corner, but after last year I am looking more critically of what is happening and who is being held accountable.
