We'll see what he can do. I really hope he can bring toughness and tenacity that is required to win in this conference. The biggest thing to me is recruiting. If he can bring in some players that ndsu has been getting, combined with a little more national reach he should do well. I'm not sure how involved he is with schemes, but if he is able to identify the right people, that is all that really matters. I did read an article stating he is pretty knowledgeable about offense, which makes sense considering how good his team was this year.

I can't wait for the sound bites to start.

I'm setting my expectations a little higher than beating out ndsu for some recruits.

Definitely, however it probably starts with making sure they choose the best in-state players. NDSU isn't winning any recruiting races with the U, but the U has overlooked far too many Minnesota kids that NDSU has been happy pick up and send along to the NFL.

I'm going to have to listen to this press conference.... Just reading the quotes on Twitter.

Clearly he didn't know about Brewster coming in here before claiming Rose Bowls and National Championships were a given for the program. Holy buckets.

He's building a wall, and Wisconsin is paying for it!

Not only are we going to build a wall around Minnesota, Chief, we're going to South Carolina, and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York.... And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan, and then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House!

YEAH!!!

Listened to the presser.... man this guy is different. I think I'm different now.. You know what? I feel like my shoulder is cracked too. Or I just smoked a crack pipe? Everything aside, he says the right things on how to build a program. I'd love for him to accomplish everything he believes he can. I just hope his chili is already hot, and doesn't expect it to heat up once he gets here.

Curious to see what happens to players and recruits now. Does he pick more up? Do players like Tyler Moore leave?

I don't think I could spend more than 10 minutes with this guy talking without feeling the need to assault him.

Good lord.

Brewster has nothing on this guy.

Finally listened to as much as I could handle after reading the quotes. It was worse than I could have possibly imagined.

Words can't do it justice.  If you had to take a shot every time he said something bat s*%& crazy you'd be blind drunk 3 minutes in to a 40 minute presser.

I couldn't handle that frenetic atmosphere and I would find it annoying and likely condescending, but I wouldn't be shocked if the kids ate it up.

I'd also have a hard time being around the smug arrogance oozing from Urban Meyer, Nick Saban and Jim Harbaugh.

I kind of liked it.

"Over the top" is too mild, but it seemed genuine to me.

Levi that is not a fair stereotype.

But that kid of enthusiasm and fire really do resonate with athletes. Shoot, even I the sales world there exists people like that. Thing is, those people get paid all kinds of money too. It doesn't make sense to me. I'm not an emotional person though, so that kind of rah rah doesn't do it for me. I know it does for some though. In fact, I'd bet it does it for more than you'd think.

Look at where Clemson has come as a program with a guy like fleck. They weren't a powerhouse before, but for 5 years now have been an elite program. That's still possible here. Don't know where I'm going with this.... Feels like I'm defending the guy. What's happening?

I'm sure there are plenty of smart kids playing football, but that doesn't change my belief that most of them aren't all that smart and are generally pretty impressionable.  (I could probably cite GPAs and that stuff, but lets face it, a lot of those kids are at the U for athletics, not academics)

I'm amazed how effective drivel like his is on people.  I don't doubt his ability to make this schtick work though, we have a long, sad history of buying into this kind of nonsense in droves.

5 flipped recruits according to the kfan board. 3 star receiver, qb, olb and 2 2 star d line. Not bad. I don't like the throwing motion of the qb, but he has athleticism and a strong arm. If Green is allowed to play and Winfield comes back this team won't be too bad.

It's only a start, but the recruiting class rating jumped 20 spots in 36 hours. One of the reasons I wanted Claeys fired was the awful recruiting. I'm very hopeful Fleck, over the course of a couple years, is able to recruit at least in the upper half of the B1G.

I'm ok with over the top. Sometimes that is what it takes to succeed (maybe even more true here). I think he knows talent and buying in are the key at this level, so he already has an advantage there. I'm most interested too see if green and jr. are coming back. The offense at wmu would be perfect for green and Rodney Smith. Mix in the pro set with Brooks and the running game looks great already.

Number 1 safety in the nation....from Alabama, coming to MN?

Clearly, this guy can recruit.

He's a nice pickup, no doubt, but I haven't seen him ranked as the number 1 safety in the nation. Number 1 safety in Alabama, consensus 3star.

I do agree I'm exited about Fleck's potential as a recruiter, he's upgraded this class quite a bit already in very little time, and I believe he'll do better in the future.

Huh, I read 4 star.....but still, either way, this class is about 100x better than it was. Hoping he can coach also....

I've found I like Fleck a lot more when I get to watch his results and not hear him speak.

Yeah, that should have been the conclusion from the start. If I had dinner with Nick Sabin or Urban Meyer I'd probably leave with my blood in a boil listening to a bunch of self-righteousness and arrogance.

HS kids tend to have different taste in everything than the rest of us do, coaches likely are not exempt from that rule.
