Cross fingers for me. Threw out my back yesterday playing golf. Now attempting to ride on an airplane.

The latter ranks considerably lower on Degree of Difficulty. Good luck with your score from the judges.

Today is NATIONAL BACON DAY!

Everything is better with bacon, maybe the Dodgers should add bacon to their Dozier offer...

Actually, I am not that big of a fan of bacon, so adding that to the offer just isn't enough to get it done for me. I want something better. When you have filet mignon on the table then we'll talk. And I'm prepared to eat tofu rather than trade Dozier for bacon. :)

When I was in college my buddies and I took a trip to Canada, when we got there I ordered some pizzas. While I was on the phone they quickly told me to add Canadian bacon and I did. They then quickly and in a fake panic said "No,no,no they just call it bacon here!" So I too in a panic said "Canadian bacon, uh I mean bacon! Er um do you have ham?"

My friends were jackasses.

Welcome to 2017! This thread, like the energizer bunny, keeps going, and going, and going...

Today is National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day! I love me some chocolate, and cherries. Why not both on this particular day!

Today is also National Fruitcake Toss Day! A day where you're literally supposed to throw a fruitcake to see how far it goes.... Seems like a waste of fruitcake if you ask me!

On this day in 2000, the last daily Peanuts comic strip was released in the newspapers... Peanuts was a syndicated comic strip for 50 years, and made a total of 17,846 comic strips over that duration. Any favorites come to mind?

Also, on this day in 1987, Aretha Franklin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! One of my favorites from her:

And currently in my parents home we have both chocolate covered cherries and fruitcake. I will gladly partake of the former and toss the latter. However, there are some fruitcakes I do like ... the ones with no candied fruit in them, and the right amount of brandy or rum soaked in.

Belated - January 3 marks the official start of the 100th year of Girl Scouts selling cookies — an annual tradition that began when an Oklahoma troop held a school bake sale in 1917.

I have to admit Tim Tams have largely supplanted Girl Scout cookies in my dietary schema.

I bought some GG cookies a couple of months back. When did they start selling those chocolate mint thin abominations? I can't eat a whole box of those!!

The Thin Mints? They've been selling them here forever. I'm sorry customs finally allowed them into Canada. The ones you got have probably been in a custom's clearinghouse for a decade or so.

Not that anyone would be able to taste the difference.
