I'm really anti-cat. I'll tolerate someone else's cat, but I've never once had a desire to own a cat. I also would prefer to never have an indoor-only pet, so that's probably a big part of it. Right now, I have two indoor only dogs, and I'd go back and change that any day of the week for a dog that was primarily outdoors. Animals are not intended to be forced indoors, in my opinion.

That's also why I've never understood those who talk about how difficult a dog is to take care of. A dog outside has tremendous ability to occupy itself and keep itself out of trouble with minimal boundaries set up for it.

Conflating truth and opinion is best left to the Election thread. :)

Hey, the new president doesn't have to know the difference!

Seriously, growing up on a farm, it was keenly obvious an animal's natural environment. Watching the Adam Ruins Everything on dog breeding was a shot to the gut to my wife as well, who has always insisted I'm barbaric for thinking my dog would enjoy sleeping outside in a South Dakota winter. Nevermind that I had a dog on the farm my whole life with the option to sleep anywhere on the farm, included heated places, and each dog chose outdoors of some variety.

We didn't have our own barn cats, but our closest neighbor (1/4 mile away) did, and that was a similar thing with them as well. They loved being outdoors, and when given the option would only use the barn for their sleep space, nothing else during the day.

Happy Monday!

Today is National Sacher Torte Day! You may be asking yourself what is Sacher Torte? Well, my friends, it is layers of rich, chocolate sponge cake, apricot jam in between the layers of cake, and topped with chocolate icing! Sounds like something I would certainly try!

Today is also International Ninja Day! So feel free to go practice your ninja moves out in the garage. Maybe slice up some fruit with a samurai sword.... The world is your oyster today!

On this day in 1933, people could pop the cork on their alcoholic beverages... Because the prohibition ended! We really should ask Chief what life was like in the prohibition days....

Sacher Torte ... I've tried ... I'm not a big fan. But thanks once again for putting foods up that I can't currently eat.

:)

Yeah, I'm too old and slow to be a ninja. I'll leave that one up to you younger kids.

And, again ... alcohol ... on the restricted list temporary. So, yeah, thanks again. :)

You could probably eat what I did for lunch today.... A big bowl of chicken enchilada soup!

I'm on a very restrictive diet right now ... low fat, low protein(no animal flesh), low anything that is difficult to digest (raw veggies) and would upset my stomach (high spice). So, basically ... CARBS. But carbs with nothing on them. Oh, and no alcohol, but after a bout of pancreatitis, I think that pretty much goes without saying.

Actually, the doctor advised against rice and beans ... they have a tendency to sit and block things ... or something like that.

Carbs like ... bagels, bread/toast, english muffins, simple pastas, some fruits

Yay! I'm unrestricted! :)

Doesn't mean I can run out and eat everything high in fat and protein I can find, but I'm easing back in! Yay! And as for the cause, I'm still a mystery, but not unique. Twenty percent who have a case of accute pancreatitis never really know why.

That's good news!! What are you craving for the first meal post pancreatitis?

Heh, well, am eating leftovers tonight for supper ... the food I couldn't eat when I went out Sunday evening with my colleagues.

But ... might have to get some sushi soon! :)
