Food and other such holidays

I'm definitely interested in finding out what the answer is :-)

BTW, the monkeys in Wizard of Oz scared me a lot as a kid (especially when they all flew) and, to be honest, are still creepy to me now.

Heh, yeah ... I'd have to run out of the room for that. My sister didn't like the tornado. And still has tornado dreams to this day. Not sure if it was because of that, but she'll never watch the movie 'Twister.'

I'm pretty sure I saw 'The Ring' ... can't say that it had a lasting impression on me.

And I say that ... you're gonna laugh when Willi and Van finally figure out what movie gave me nightmares, that to this day there is something I will never do in my life.

Does it involve a shark?

Alfred Hitchcock directed?

No.

Okay, hint ... it wasn't even in the 'scary movie' genre ... that's why you'll laugh ... but it gave me nightmares, to the point, as I said, there is something that I will never do in my lifetime.

Well, you probably don't live in a Yellow Submarine.

Did it involve eating more food than anyone else :)

I have been trying to think of things....like ghostbusters, or planes trains and automobiles.....

Lol ... no ... but here's another hint ... because of this movie, I had no desire whatsoever to see 'Titanic.'

Poseidon Adventure?

ding ding ding ding ding ...

Yes ... for whatever reason ... it gave me serious nightmares for a long time ... and as a result, I never, ever want to go on cruise. Fears are irrational ... what can I say. And I'm fine with y'all laughing at this because I've laughed at some of your stories. :)

I, also, will never go on a cruise, but for different reasons.

Alaska cruise was awesome, and literally the only way to see some things......just don't eat at the buffet once they let people serve themselves. ever.

Oh ugh ... I don't even want to know because I already know.

Today is National American Beer Day! You hear that, North? No Canadian beers allowed on this day, because, 'Murica. I will celebrate by drinking Space Cat - a Kolsch style ale dry hopped with Hallertau Blanc hops and raspberries. It's the special brew of the month at Austin Beerworks!

Today is also Navy Day! A day to salute all of the men and women who have served in the US Navy. This day was chosen because it is Teddy Roosevelt's birthday, but really, the Navy began on October 13th, 1775.

On this day in 1904, the first subway system opened it's doors for business in New York City. The first passengers had to pay a nickel in order to get a ride. Today for a single-ride fare, it's $2.50, or $110 per month for unlimited rides.

Also, on this day in 1275 one of the greatest cities in the world is founded. That city is Amsterdam! Since we have some world travelers here, what's your take on Amsterdam?

Loved Amsterdam.  In the area of Amsterdam I went to, so much wild stuff happened it was like common place, which was awesome.   Basically, San Fran on 20 cans of Red Bull :-)

Any city with a red light district gets the thumbs up in my book! I really need to visit there soon.

I think they've actually shut down some of what made it a red light district, and in some ways I applaud that.  One way I applaud it is where they cracked down on human trafficking.  Haven't been there for like 10 years, so I have no idea how far they took it.

Good point. Didn't really think about the human trafficking part of it.... Well if that's cut down and the result is having less scenery to view on that street, it's a nice trade off.
