For some reason pumpkin pie is the only pumpkin based food I can get into. In fact its the only squash based food I eat most years. Its weird, come Thanksgiving squash will be the last thing on my plate. Even after the cranberries are gone. Even if you add marshmellows to it, still gotta hold my nose. But then when that pie comes out its game on.

I love pumpkin spice stuff, although ... I never order the pumpkin spiced lattes or other beverages. But hey, pumpkin everything else is fine by me. I wish Dunkin Donuts had their pumpkin donuts year round. But other than the occasional pumpkin donut, and even though I say 'bring it on' when it comes to anything pumpkin spiced/flavored, I haven't partaken of anything else this season.

It's like I wrote this myself.

Happy Monday! Hope y'all had a good weekend...

Today is National Food Day! What a generic holiday to celebrate.... On this day, you're supposed to "Eat Real" and cut back on sugary drinks, and fatty factory farmed meats for fruits, vegetables, and clean foods... I suppose to truly celebrate this day, we should all go to one of those farm-to-table restaurants... Speaking of, have you ever been to one of those type of restaurants? Most are pretty tasty!

Today is also National Bologna Day! I'm not sure if I consumed too much bologna as a young'n, but it's the last deli meat I would choose for a sandwich. Deli meats, ranked:

- Turkey

- Ham

- Roast Beef

- Pastrami

- Summer Sausage

- Hard Salami

- getting struck by a bus

- Bologna

Finally, on this day in 1962, James Brown and the Famous Flames perform a mind-blowing concert at the Apollo in Harlem, NY. This concert was recorded, and released as an album in 1963. It was ranked #24 on Rolling Stone's list of the greatest albums of all-time, and spent 66 weeks on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.

Today is National Chucky, the Notorious Killer Doll Day! Were you a fan of this movie series? I remember being elementary school aged, maybe 9-10 years old and wanting to do what my older cousins were doing as teenagers. They were watching Child's Play and convinced myself I could do it too! Well, I was wrong, and that doll freaked me out!

Today is also National Greasy Food Day! There's many different avenues you can travel to celebrate this day.... Get a greasy burger! Or do pizza! Maybe cheese curds! The world is your oyster....

Speaking of scary movies, on this day in 1978, "Halloween" debuted in theaters! Michael Myers is another freaky character that's good to watch this time of year.

Ha I had nightmares about Chucky as a kid too. Saw it at my Rated R buddy's place around the same age. Scream was another one that genuinely scared me, I was maybe 13 when I saw that.

Going way back this scene frome Never Ending Story really did me in.

The Ring, man.... The Ring. The girl coming out of the TV legitimately gave me nightmares for a couple of days. Shouldn't have watched that movie either as a 12 year old.

I have one response to these scary movie stories ... LOL!

I won't tell you which movies scared me because they were stupid and I'm ashamed to admit I even watched them.

Hmm, now I'm just going to guess. Nightmare on Elm Street? Silence of the Lambs?

Those would be reasonable. The one's I went to/saw, I think I was 10 or 11 at the time. And it wasn't so much that I was even scared during the movies, but they gave me nightmares afterwards ... and one movie to a semi-permanent degree that there is something that I will never do in my life.

ahhhh ... a mystery ... you may ask yes or no questions until you figure it out ... ;)

Ok, so true story.

I rented The Ring.  My girlfriend (now wife) and I finished watching it around midnight. My lady asked me if I wanted to watch the DVD extra, the actual thing the people in the movie were watching that would bring 'The Ring'.  I was hesitant, but then said sure.  As soon as it was over, my actual home phone rang.  Not kidding.  Exactly after we were done watching it.

Good lord... If that happened to me I wouldn't be sleeping that night. Too freaky of a coincidence.

Movies that scared me.  Some of the classics.  Exorcist and the Shining but the Exorcist the most.

Slasher movies never scared me.  Get the supernatural involved, yeah no...no thanks.  Not watching.

The Exorcist I have never seen and won't watch. The Shining I LOVE. Best scary movie ever! Several years back my nephew was staying with me and he had just finished reading the book and, lo and behold, the movie was on television so he decided to watch it. He was sitting there in a comfy chair with a glass of water in his hands. I came up behind him at a particular point in the movie and yelled, 'REDRUM!' When he jumped the water in the glass went flying up and hit me pretty square. Heh ... good times.

I wouldn't answer the phone.  Nope, not this guy.

I'm pretty sure I saw 'The Ring' ... can't say that it had a lasting impression on me.

And I say that ... you're gonna laugh when Willi and Van finally figure out what movie gave me nightmares, that to this day there is something I will never do in my life.

I'm definitely interested in finding out what the answer is :-)

BTW, the monkeys in Wizard of Oz scared me a lot as a kid (especially when they all flew) and, to be honest, are still creepy to me now.
