Today is National I love my feet day! You may love your feet, and we need them for our favorite activities. Just keep your feet away from me.

Today is also National Thrift Shop Day! Mike, I can't recall if your sons are just going to college, or in college, but I'm sure you or your wife is on the lookout for deals at the thrift shop for them. That and garage sales is how I got my college housing items.. Good times.

Yes....

Hoping to include the Surly Prospect Park Taproom and Steel Toe this year. Not great routing when you're not driving however.

I used to live fairly close to Steel Toe. If you like the beers you can get in any store/bar, you'll like it. But, they do nothing interesting/different at all in the brewery (once in a while they have a barrel aged beer, but there is nothing cool about the beer in the brewery).

They did hit up Goodwill the other day, but with no success. My wife tends to shop Kohl's or other places when she has really big coupons. I largely leave the sons on their own for clothes and shoes...Yes, both are in college.

IIRC, this is about the time of year where a bunch of garage sales are happening. We found a lot of great stuff from estate sales that were basically giving away pots and pans, skillets, kitchen utensils, and silverware. It's been a few years, but I'm willing to bet we stocked our kitchen supplies for less than $75.

Good to know, thx!

Do people actually drink rum? (Especially on the rocks).  And Mojitos are stupid.

Cheap rum is probably tastier straight than cheap anything-else straight. Move up in class, and I suppose whiskies and so forth win out pretty quickly. Still, as a mixer, a rum&coke is a great standby.

Bicardi Limon with lemonade over crushed ice.  One of the best summer drinks ever!

Also,  I sub Bacardi Limon in for regular rum on a Long Island Iced teas.  Makes it much better.

Aren't you a bit old for a long island iced tea? Isn't that a drink for 22 year olds? Or is that a thing now?

I haven't had a Long Island Iced Tea in about 10 years (maybe longer).  I know the last time I had them with any regularity was 2004 (before I went to Germany).  I still remember that they are delicious. :-)

I used to like you.

My impressions of Rum may have been colored by my experience Freshman year of college with this guy:

I'm a dry whiskey guy.  Rum is way to sweet for me.   But I can't say I've ever had any high-shelf Rum.

Oh and the chugging Long Island Iced Teas in my twenties thing, probably didn't help either.

Ok, I've seen people drink Long Island Ice Tea, but wtf is it? I'll go out on a limb and guess iced tea is an ingredient.

And why is it called Long Island Ice Tea? Because it looks like it came from the East River?

Barney Google to the rescue...
