Food and other such holidays

That is true. Though going commando all day can be risky.

This is probably in the TMI category, but there's nothing better than coming home after work, taking off the pants and undies, and putting on some shorts.

In the vein of TMI, I think everyone should post their commando experiences.

My assumption is that every licensed plumber in the US goes commando. How else do you explain plumber's crack?

I think if you think on it you could probably come up with a few viable answers.

Along with National Happiness Day, it is also National Frozen Custard Day!

Culver's I know is exclusively custard for their ice cream treats. Are there other chain restaurants that have only custard?

No mention of International Cat Day...

*sigh*

Feed your cat something special today for this wonderful occasion!

It's National S'mores Day! It's been way too long since I've enjoyed an old fashioned s'mores by a campfire...

Today is also National Lazy Day! Or for most of us, or am I just talking about myself, today is Wednesday. I knew I should have called in to work today to celebrate this National Holiday!

Finally, on this day in 1937, Brock's great grandfather musician George Beauchamp, secured a US patent for the electric guitar! He invented the first electric guitar in 1931, called the Frying Pan.

Today is National Vinyl Record Day! This may come as a shock to you, but I've never owned a vinyl record in my lifetime. I'm sure some of you have in a past life! What's your favorite vinyl record of all-time?

Today is also Julienne Fries Day! You may also know them by their other name, "shoestring fries". Personally I'm a curly fry guy, but julienne fries work too!

Finally, on this day in 1981, IBM introduced the first personal computer, model 5150. The low, low price of $1,565 will get you 16K of RAM, a 4.77 MHz CPU, and DOS 1.0. I don't know what the specifications mean, but I'm willing to bet that we have the same capability or more in our cell phones now.

I still have vinyl records around; even some 78 rpm's inherited from my parents. My brother is slowly transferring things to digital formats.

My favorites? Probably the Alan Sherman, Smothers Brothers, and Homer and Jethro collections.

My first computer, I'm squeamish to admit, was an IBM PCjr, purchased at a Dayton's warehouse sale. After that I got an Apple ][ and never looked back.

Fries are good; chips (as in fish and...) are better.

Happy birthday TK!

To celebrate his birthday, take a load off, because it's National Relaxation Day! I had a lazy day yesterday after we saw rain for the first time in 70ish days down here in Austin.

Today is also National Lemon Meringue Pie Day! Boy do I love me some lemon meringue pie! My grandmother, RIP, was a fantastic cook. One of her signature desserts was this, and it was delicious...

Finally, on this day in 1969, perhaps some of you took a road trip to Bethel, NY.... Why do you ask? Well, a famous festival began today... That festival was Woodstock. Was anyone fortunate enough to attend?

On August 17, 1933, New York Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig plays in his 1,308th consecutive game, breaking former Yankee Everett Scott’s record for consecutive games played. Gehrig would go on to play in 2,130 games in a row, setting a record that would stand for over half a century.

Carry on.
