Food and other such holidays

To clear up the situation... It was Sunday night, there wasn't any "date" plans. She wanted me to stop by her place to hang out for a bit. She was busy making her lunches for the week, and I heard the dryer go off. Figured why not help fold this so she doesn't have to do it later. Turns out there is a method to folding the bed sheet that goes on the mattress that I did not do. Hence the dumb argument in the first place.

There are certain activities in most marriages that you find that one person cares much more about than the other. I had three bins for clothes for laundry...my wife had seven. She washes clothes. I roll every pair of socks together and hang every shirt as well as folding fairly particularly. I, therefore, fold the laundry. It makes good sense.

Ohhhhhhh ... it was HER laundry ... okay then ... you were being very nice to help and she should have just appreciated this instead of instructing you. Bad on her then. Imo.

To be fair here to the discussion ... yes, in a marriage you compromise and split these chores and work it out to each's satisfaction.

Van's not married nor living with his gf. They aren't at that point yet (if I'm reading all this correctly), so ... different rules apply to these kinds of personal chores.

That said, now that Van cleared it up ... I think it wasn't really a great indicator if she's telling him how he did something wrong when he was just trying to help in a situation where, as I said above, they are dating, not long-termly committed ... yet.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume Van's gf didn't have siblings. Spoken from long experience, if while folding laundry a little sibling sweetly offers to help, you can count on it they're going to do a pretty ****ty job, but you let them do it anyway because the last thing you want to do is discourage them from being cheerful helpers. If it's not satisfactory, you wait to refold the whole load until after the sibling goes on to another activity because you're a great big sister. ;) Buuuut I'm probably sounding like a bitch, and, to be clear, I have absolutely nothing against Vanimal's girlfriend ... lol.

Today is National Watermelon Day! Did you know that watermelon is 92% water? No wonder why it's so refreshing to eat in the summer time!

Today is also Grab some Nuts Day! I have salt and pepper pistachios waiting to be consumed in my desk drawer just for this occasion!

Also, on this day in 1778, a famous opera house opens up in Milan, Italy. You may know this venue by the name La Scala. It's amazing that it's still open to this day!

I'm behind a day here, missed ice cream day, I love ice cream. My sister owns a DQ so that works out very well. I'm fond of bringing her different chocolate bars and various other ingredients for her to make my own custom Blizzard and then bugging her to put it on the menu. Drives her bonkers!

Watermelon, haven't really eaten much since I was a kid. The kids on the baseball/softball teams I coach seem to eat it by the metric tonne though.

No need for the pleonasm; we get Canadian vernacular. :)

Today is the last day before we start seeing Deja-Vu on this thread! Happy Friday!

Today is National Oyster Day! I wouldn't say oysters are something that I seek when going out for dinner. But we have had it a few times at happy hour for an appetizer. They're pretty good topped with some hot sauce!

Today is also National Underwear Day! A pretty crucial element of an outfit IMO. Unless you're wearing a swim suit! Or if it's your birthday!

There are also a couple of interesting things that's happened on this day in history:

In 1926, famous illusionist Harry Houdini defies death by remaining in a closed casket on the bottom of a swimming pool for 91 minutes! You could not pay me enough money to do this. Ever.

In 1957, television show "American Bandstand" made its first appearance on National TV! This show would last another 32 years, hosted by Dick Clark.

You forgot an exception ... going commando.

You forgot an exception ... going commando.

That is true. Though going commando all day can be risky.

This is probably in the TMI category, but there's nothing better than coming home after work, taking off the pants and undies, and putting on some shorts.
