That kid's obviously just trying to generate speculation and drive up the per-tooth value. Shameful.

I was thinking that too. The kid knows how to stir the pot, so maybe he's trying to coax a $20 bill out of his mom instead of a $5 bill..

Is there any better stress reliever than seeing a bunch of puppies running around?

Says the voice of inexperience.

Happy National Paul Bunyan Day! A special day for people tied to Minnesota. I remember the tall tale of Paul Bunyan creating all of Minnesota's lakes so Babe the Blue Ox had several places to drink. My co-worker from Michigan remembers the tall tale of Paul Bunyan creating the Great Lakes for Babe the Blue Ox to drink. Apparently other states claim they're the home of Paul Bunyan? Well, I think they lose since there's a giant statue of Bunyan in northern Minnesota. Also, this:

There are more than one statue of him in MN, but apparently they hardly rate compared to ones in OR, CA and ME.

That Thome ad is one of my all-time favorites.

Huh, well I stand corrected! Never would have guessed there are several Paul Bunyan statues around the country. I remember taking pictures in front of the statue in Brainerd, MN as a kid. Probably lost in a photo album somewhere at mom and dad's house.

I went as Paul Bunyan for Halloween one year and my friend's little girl went as a princess. She referred to me as "my big Ben" at the time, and insisted on holding my hand throughout trick-or-treating. A picture from behind of the two of us has shown back up at multiple different situations as one of her parents' favorite pictures, and now she's 16 (oy, I'm getting old), and we're discussing re-creating the picture for her high school graduation with the weight I've lost and her full grown. I'd have to grow out the full beard again, but that shouldn't be any sort of an issue.

But we built ours first. :)

This is from Wiki:

Stewart and Watt acknowledge that they have not yet succeeded in definitively finding out whether Bunyan actually lived or was wholly mythical. They have noted, however, that some of the older lumberjacks whom they interviewed claimed to have known him or members of his crew, and the supposed location of his grave was actually pointed out in northern Minnesota. In this regard, it should be noted that Bunyan's extreme gigantism was a later invention, and that early stories either do not mention it or, as in the Stewart and Watt paper, refer to him as being about seven feet tall.

Though the origin of his birth may be undetermined, at least we got dibs on the grave before anyone else.

Also, William B. Laughead, the guy who originally popularized him in writing, was born in Ohio but lived in Minnesota. He came up with most of what we know about him today, including Babe. I think we have a pretty just claim on Paul Bunyan.

Yeah, I'm not denying our claim to him ... just that van mentioned a single statue in MN, and I was pointing out, not only are there more than one statue of him in MN, but that there are others in the country that received more notice from Wikipedia.

Happy Thursday!

Today is National Social Media Day! For some, social media is one of the greatest innovations in the last 15 years. Others think social media is the worst thing that's happened to our society. And some are in the middle. Social media is becoming less important to me on a daily basis. Though it is amazing how Facebook has remained the most popular social media site for so long.

Today is also National Meteor Watch Day! Is there a meteor shower on the way that we should be aware of?

Today is also National Bomb Pop Day! I love popsicles! Bomb pops are HOF worthy popsicles IMO....

Finally, today is National Handshake Day! So go crazy with the handshakes today! Your clients, co-workers, neighbors, friends, family members... All of them love handshakes!

I've certainly been cleaning up the friends list on Facebook since the college days. Sadly the best strategy is whenever Facebook announces it's so-and-so's birthday, and I haven't spoken to that person in years, they're removed from the list.

I'll let you know about the meteors.

I use social media daily. The trick is to be very particular about whom to associate with. Much as in the meat world.

I note we are not friends on SM......

My wife loves popsicles. Loves them. I have thought about having a food truck/cart that sold high end popsicles, some of which would be alcoholic.....but I don't think I want to work every weekend....

Yeah ... I've removed quite a few myself. I've unfollowed quite a few, too.

Sounds like a brilliant food truck idea! If anything you could recruit your sons to work the food truck, and you can be the curmudgeon old board member that's focused on the bottom line.
