This is a worrying result for Liriano. Earlier in the season when he got in trouble, it deteriorated quickly - he couldn't find a way to buckle down and pitch his way out.

After he came back from the bullpen, there were a few games when he was able to do that - bear down and get those last outs.

It appears he is reverting back to original form.

Since it was a long time ago, I want to remind everyone that Butera, batting 8th, made the final out last inning with a man on by swinging at two balls that weren't close to the zone. Now our #9 hits a triple. Yet, got to keep batting Butera in the 8-hole. Why? I know this is no good reason but why?

I would blame the man who filled out the lineup card and who kept Liriano in the game when he was clearly struggling.

Butera has a great arm, I would match him up against any catcher in baseball in throwing out runners. If the pitchers give him a shot (holding them close and not giving incredible jumps), he will get them 50% of the time.
