Oh, if you offer a play enough money, they'd still sign.  It really is that simple :)

I would say that is true for some players, but not all.  Some players like knowing the stability and knowing where they're going to be for the next few years.

If you sign a bunch of guys to extensions, then turn around and trade them that year, agents are going to stop letting the people they represent sign those extensions.  Also, usually the point of signing players to extensions is so that you can control your costs.  Throwing more money at free agents doesn't really accomplish that.

Either way, I still believe that Hughes will add a lot of value to this team in the next few years.  If I had to trade a pitcher to get get Santana into the rotation, Hughes wouldn't be the guy I traded.

Isn't Hicks like 1 for 12 (or something like that) at AAA?

Had a nice hit yesterday (a triple, I think) but he's going to have to show more before they bring him back.

Found this:

Aaron Hicks had first hit since starting rehab at @RocRedWings.

Bad news: He is 1 for 11 with 5 Ks through 3 games. Also assist at home.

The assist at home was apparently a pretty good throw indicating that the arm is okay.

5. New Watch -- I bought a new watch... I'm now living in Eastern Time and my old watch was Central time. It was hard... there are a lot of watch choices and none of them blew me away. After a half hour of shopping ... I strongly considered keeping my old watch and moving back to Central Time.

I think the secret is to get watches with only 1 hand. Better yet, you should have bought an east coast watch in your travels, and just averaged 'em.

Yeah, seeing Hamilton's speed may be bitter sweet just 'cause it gives some idea of what Buxton might be capable of.

And while i know what's up, i still am bothered about all this talk about how to fit Santana in. The answer's obvious and here: shortstop.

Unless Hicks is still hurt, which seems doubtful since he's played a couple games at Rochester, I don't understand why he's not in CF and Rosario in LF.

I think that's it in a nutshell; they don't feel he's fully rehabbed yet.

I'm wondering why it feels with the opposing team having bases loaded-nobody out, the over/under feels like about 5 runs.  While with our offense, it feels like 1.  Maybe I'm just a pessimist pretty much all the time.
