Yes he is. Of course, the Twins might want to call the Orioles and see if they can have Parmelee back.,,, He was called up tonight, played both RF and 1B.... and went 4-6 in his debut, with 2 HRs :)

You're joking about Parmelee right?

Yeah, hence the Happy Face- just trying to point out the Twins current desperate state with a touch of irony- The Orioles have had a recent history replete with employment of Twins castoffs.

I can't believe anyone who has watched this team would argue that the OF is "easy" and you can just throw any one out there.

I'm seriously dumbfounded by that.

The preferred term is mind boggled.

And for putting something in quotes, I'm pretty sure no one said it was easy. But I do trust athletes.

Apparently the Twins have believed that for decades.

Buxton CF

Mauer 1B

Dozier 2B

Sano DH (3B one time a week)

Plouffe 3B

Hunter RF

Rosario LF

Suzuki C

Polanco/Santana/Escobar SS

Hicks: 4th OF, PR, defensive replacement.

Only addition I'd make is to let Hicks hit vs lefties. He has shown some ability vs LHP. Polanco would be the EVERY DAY SS too.

Yeah I would sit Rosario against tough lefties this year. Next year I like the idea of a arcia/hicks platoon in right.

I'm sorry, I don't see how him batting lead-off suddenly puts so much more pressure on him. The pressure is already on him big time to be the Twins next big thing.

You don't think there is less pressure batting down at the bottom of the order, being able to watch the pitcher throw, not batting until the 2nd or 3rd inning??   The less pressure on him the better chance he has to succeed. Isn't that what we all want?

I don't agree that his ultimate value is dictated by being at 3B at all......his bat is good enough to be one of the best at his position, regardless of position. Sure, he has more value at 3B, but you have to look at your resource pool.......it is, imo, likely they are better if he is at DH or 1B, and a good defender, ok hitter or better, is at 3B.

Yeah, this is what I don't really understand. The Twins are a worse team if Sano is in the field.

So why are we in such a rush to not only put him in the field but to put him at a position he's never played?

Slot him into DH and give him spot starts at third to keep him fresh. Reevaluate after the season is complete.

I'm not sure people understand that if you put Sano in the outfield, he'll probably be a worse overall player than Arcia (potentially considerably worse). With Oswaldo, you can basically bank on bad defense and a 100 OPS+. With Sano, you can't even bank on that much. He could be an epically bad fielder and he might not have a league average bat in 2015.

Look at Eduardo Escobar. He's small, fast, and naturally athletic enough to play a pretty decent shortstop... and he's comical in the outfield despite having logged ~30 innings there professionally before the season started (which means he has practiced routes, throwing, etc. in years past).

On the other hand, small improvements add up over the course of a baseball season. At the least, there isn't any reason a big league team should be regularly running weak hitters out at DH.

In terms of running out weak hitters at DH, you're referring to Vargas, I assume. ;)

I'd start him out at DH with spot starts at 3B, but if he is comfortable at the plate after a few weeks, I'd have no problem giving him some quick looks at RF or 1B too.  That information could reduce the scrambling if Mauer or an outfielder ever hit the DL, or if Arcia/Vargas/Pinto ever look ready to reclaim some DH at-bats.

Yes. I personally would wait a week at most, but a couple wouldn't hurt either. Give him some pre-game work on days he DHs.

Sure. If he acclimates to hitting quickly, then you loosen the leash a bit and explore other options.

But intially, KISS should be the motto with Sano. Put him in the best position to succeed. Once he succeeds, then you start looking for other ways to improve the team and that might include Miguel playing a few innings at first base, for starters.
