Quite a few interesting HS names available here.  Kind of hope the Twins grab a few of them and hopefully get one or two signed.

Not much in terms of catching help.  Most are pitchers and middle infielders.

I am not huge on first baseman for picks as they are usually slow with one or two tools and you can convert other positions to First base so I guess I don't understand why there are three picks for first baseman.

They are org filler at this point, so not too concerned.  If the bat can play up, they'll get a job somewhere, even if it's a trade to another team, so I don't necessarily mind.

There's your answer, Dman.

Yep I guess they think so highly of Jay that they will draft anyone who has hit a home run off of him.  I hear that is select club like 3 or 4 guys.

Mimicing the Cards here.  They love getting good college hitters from decent baseball schools.

Well, if you look at that video of 8th rounder Kolten Kendrick taking batting practice and hitting balls into/over trees in the outfield, you'll understand why the Twins drafted that guy.

The other 1B, well everyone explained those guys already.  You never know though.  Some of these guys might turn out to be something.

Yup, draft three, if one hits enough to stick at 1B and DH you win.

Okay, first of all the Twins Daily Organization Chart needs to be updated. Wasn't before or after spring training.

I understand organizational depth... but do the Twins need that many corners for the lower minors?

Jack Barrie, Ruar Verkerk, Lewin Diaz, Roni Tapia off the top of my head...

Now  Travis Blankenhorn, Trey Cabbage, Kolton Kendrick, Alexander Wiel....

Even if Amaurys Minier spend all year in the outfield that's a lot already for two teams.

Yeah that is my thinking as well. How many base clogging first baseman do we need.  Try and get guys who can hit and run.  Certainly I can understand getting one really good one but three.  A majority of the teams haven't even drafted a 1st baseman yet and we are the only team who has drafted three.

I am no scout and I know nothing about these guys they might be very good and move pretty well I have no idea but typically if you are a first baseman you are slow and have some power and hopefully a decent hit tool.  Maybe these guys can play outfield I just find it odd that you focus early and often at first base.  No one else seems to be.

8 isn't really all that many for 2 teams when you can play 6 of them (3b, 1b, DH), specially since these guys are not as accustomed to playing games everyday.

I guess my point is Barrie and Verkerk are raw and haven't done much I'd expend them to still develop GCL.  Diaz and Tapia haven't played in GCL yet and then they draft high school guys Blankenhorn, Cabbage, and Kendrick.

Alexander Wiel seems like the only one ready for Elizabethan.
