Article: Between A Rick And A Hard Place

Up to this season, I could have led pitchfork nation against Mike Pelfrey. But as long as he's starting to figure things out, I am okay with him in the rotation. I have now focused my pitchfork efforts on Nolasco. I hope the only motive to put him back in the rotation is to see if he shows any signs of turning things around. If he has 2 starts in a row where he lasts 5+ innings, I would deal him in a heart beat. Heck, even a Josh Hamilton type deal where we only get "cash considerations or a player to be named later" would be a good deal for Nolasco.

If the Dodger's scouts were indeed watching the Twins starters you would hope that Terry Ryan called Zaidi and offered up Nolasco.  Heck I'd offer to pay part of his salary for the next 2-1/2 years if they took him off our hands.  Seems like a no-brainer.

I like something about all of the candidates for demotion.  IMHO, it looks like May is on the cusp of being successful, Pelfrey might have found something that works for him and Gibson needs to mix his pitches better to get some swings and misses.  Milone hasn't had a real good start since his first one, but  has kept the team in the game until Monday's short start.

I would prefer the team send Milone down and keep him stretched out.   I don't want to see a soft-tossing lefty in the 'pen.

Any chance of trading Nolasco to the Dodgers?  They need a starter and he pitched well for them when he was in LA.  My fantasy would be to trade Nolasco and Schafer to the Dodgers for Van Slyke and a prospect and put Van Slyke in center ( not a great defensive CF but an upgrade over what we have).

That would be a dream. More likely is a SP, plus a decent prospect from the Twins, to get Van Slyke.
