Deep fantasy baseball league

The most irritating thing is that his story has changed every time.  Now he was simply talking about changing the rules for next year.  Somehow at least half of my comments have included how I support a rule change for next year.

the good news for me is that teams decide to tank and rebuild keep me competitive.  I just can't understand how a 17-15 team that is 3 games out of a playoff spot would even consider tanking much less be a seller at this point.  Every year playoff teams rebuild.  I don't get it.

I noticed that you were in the mix.  Your only problem is that you don't have any elite players but are good across the board.  I see 3 tiers of playoff teams.  Tier one is DEM and TR (+10-15% more points on the season than tier 2).  DEM looks unstoppable with his rotation and lineup.  Tier 2 includes Melk, Name and myself (+10-15% on tier 3).  We are good but we just don't have the rotation strength to match up.  Tier 3 includes 5 (with you).

I build for depth because we really just don't know who will become elite players--or keep playing at elite levels.  That said, I do acquire players that at least have the spectre of eliteness.  Here's hoping Pineda and Bauer can become that.  What I've realized it's relatively easy to keep the minors full of prospects.

You and teamname continue to stay relevant, always impressive.  Ben's made deft player acquisitions that always leave me feeling, why didn't I do that.

I think anyone who has been paying attention sees how shady his argument is.  He's being a punk.

Thanks. I was surprised Bour was still out there, and Holt has been easily my wisest free agent since I started. I got burned on a couple of my initial trades, but I was told in one trade email that I was "higher than a kite" on Kinsler and Hosmer, and lo and behold, they've been two of my best players this year, and the player who made that comment has had a rough year at both positions. Segura's bounce back is something I played on in a few leagues. Now if only Danny Santana could rediscover the magic!

I was watching a Marlins game and thought I should check to see if Bour was a FA but forgot.  A couple of days later you picked him up.  Oops.

Go pick up some prospects.  How can you have 5 open spots?

Do I? I'll have to get on that. I've been dropping guys when I move someone up from the minors and not replacing that guy in the minors, which is what probably happened there. Nice to have a roster spot, but 5 is too many.  I'll get on some research tonight probably.

nice trade noah, think that was a steal for you

Thanks.  Gallardo is pitching over his head, and Olivera will be over thirty when he is relevant.  Given that I probably won't make the playoffs thanks to the collapse of my pitching this trade made a lot of sense.

I don't get it.  I offered Devon Travis for Wacha and he took an oldish declining SP that was never great and a prospect that isn't that great or young.

I really don't understand why Olivera has so much value in fantasy and in real life.  Why did the Braves trade away good young SP'ing for an older prospect?

I think the Atlanta trade inflated Olivera's value.  I'm sure he'll hit at the big league's, but he could lose his 2b eligibility if he comes up and only plays third, which would be a big hit on his value.

I don't know why he'd want Olivera over Travis, and I doubt Gallardo or the 2nd round pick really bridges that gap.  I wonder if the fact that your team is more competitive than mine played a part.

The Braves loved Olivera in the offseason, but they couldn't afford to beat the Dodgers in the bidding. In the end, they got the player for less than they bid by having the Dodgers pay the entire signing bonus. Wood has some huge injury issues, and he's spent each of the last two offseasons with an elbow balking that's already been repaired once, and I believe after Beachy/Medlen, the team was worried they'd lose out on Wood's value if they didn't move now.

Looks like some people are trying to revive the league (combined with another one).  I guess they still need more people' those of you in the league should have gotten an email.   I decided to give it a go, even though it's auction and I'm unfamiliar with the format.

I'm having to weigh this. My writing is taking off, I'm in a job transition for the day job, we have a foster baby at the moment and are likely going to be a frequent host for foster kids, and frankly, this would be dynasty #5 for me now, as I've started up 2 more after dropping this one. I'm also in a renewing single-season league with friends and a pair of keeper leagues. I very much wanted to keep the fantasy leagues in any single sport under double digits going forward (which is a drastic reduction for me).

Fantasy baseball is done for me. My travel blogging is really starting to take off and I can potentially start making money (and decent money) soon but it is like having a full time job on top of a full time job running a business.

I might be interested in a fun single season basketball league since I follow NBA more nowadays and there are fewer players.
