I hadn't heard anything about Duensing's injury, but apparently he's heading to the 15 day DL.

It looks like we'll be seeing Caleb Thielbar back with the Twins for the 3rd year in a row.

Is Thielbar the right guy to call up? Or should it have been Achter, Oliveros, Tonkin, or Pryor? Or if you're one of those people, maybe you'd argue Burdi?

Bringing up Thielbar makes me think it's an actual injury, because I don't think the Twins were really impressed with him in the spring. Tonkin, Pressley, and Achter (maybe not in that exact order) should all be higher on the depth chart... but Thielbar's the only other lefty reliever on the 40 man, right?

They would have only had Duensing in the pen if Santana had passed his test, so I don't really get the decision to roll with two lefties (Thompson and Thielbar plus Perk) now...

From LEN III:

Caleb Thielbar is back in his home state, and will be in uniform tonight against the Indians.

Thielbar, one of the last pitchers cut during spring training, was recalled from Class AAA Rochester on Friday after fellow lefthander Brian Duensing strained the right intercostal muscle in his ribcage while pitching against the Royals.

Thielbar, a native of Northfield, Minn., was 1-0 in three relief appearances for the Red Wings this season, and had not given up a run in 2 1/3 innings. He has a 2.59 ERA in two seasons with the Twins.
